CLASH – ROSKILDE FESTIVAL ’85 (2 CD-R)

The Danish performance, one of the last three festivals the second incarnation of The Clash performed at, has been significantly upgraded using a newly discovered stereo master! – The

live performance at the Roskilde Festival in Copenhagen, Denmark, on June 29, 1985, the first of the last three festivals the second incarnation of The Clash, with only Joe and Paul remaining from the original lineup, was fully recorded in mono audience format and was previously available on the label’s release “ROSKILDE FESTIVAL (TOTH1576)”. However, this release is a newly upgraded new master edition that mainly uses a newly discovered stereo source!

From the beginning to “Spanish Bombs”, the newly discovered audio is recorded with a clear sound quality that can be considered top class for its time, and while the previous release was mono, the newly discovered master has a wider range and has been significantly upgraded!

Furthermore, while previous releases had a slight gap in the ending of “Pressure Drop” and the first half of “Police On My Back” due to tape changes, the newly discovered source includes all of these without any omissions.

In addition, the latter half of the missing parts in the newly discovered source has been filled in using a different stereo source than the previously released version, making this a definitive recording of this day’s performance!

A rare scene is vividly captured where the venue’s sound cuts out during “Spanish Bombs”! Shortly after, Cosmo Vinyl (the band’s PR and tour manager) appears and calls for the band to resume playing.

At a festival featuring bands like the Ramones and The Style Council, this was The Clash’s first band gig in a long time since their busking tour. Although The Clash are rarely talked about after the album “CUT THE CRAP,” this energetic performance proves that this period of live show, where they continued to evolve even without Topper and Mick, is the true final form of The Clash!
