Description

Old Waldorf, San Francisco, CA, USA 3rd September 1977.

 This legendary soundboard featuring the ultra-rare song “Kicked In The Teeth” has been upgraded. This masterpiece has been released on CD from a newly discovered reel master.

 This album is inscribed with the “September 3, 1977 San Francisco performance.” It is a stereo soundboard recording taken at the legendary club “Old Waldorf.” 1977 is remembered as the year of their masterpiece “Let There Be Rock,” but after the album’s release, a lineup change occurred, with Mark Evans replacing Cliff Williams. It was also a time when the lineup changed depending on the timing. To confirm this, let’s first take a bird’s-eye view of their activities at the time and examine the position of this album.

・January 7th to February 15th: Australia (16 shows)
・February 18th to March 20th: UK (25 shows)
{“LET THERE BE ROCK” released on March 21st}
・April 5th to 29th: Europe #1 (16 shows)
{May: Mark Evans leaves → Cliff Williams joins}
・June 1st: Sydney show
・July 1st + 2nd: Sydney (2 shows)
・July 27th to September 7th: North America #1 (28 shows) ←★Click here★

[Official quality sound from the original reel master unearthed at last]
 This is AC/DC in 1977. At the time, there were tours that spanned the year, but the “LET THERE BE ROCK Tour” ended in 1977. The following year, 1978, it restarted as the “POWERAGE Tour.” Among these, the Old Waldorf performance in this work was the 27th performance of “North America #1.” It was a concert three months before the live album “LIVE FROM THE ATLANTIC STUDIOS,” which was included in the official box set.

 The soundboard that conveys such shows has long been a staple, but this work is a new master that brings it to its highest peak. It is a masterpiece that was digitized directly from the recently released reel master of the soundboard. In fact, the sound is shocking. At the start, there is a strong hiss as before, but the extremely thick performance sound drowns it out. Moreover, as the tape progresses, it improves, and by the time of the third song, “Up To My Neck In You,” the hiss disappears. This is an official-grade sound that is comparable to the official “LIVE FROM THE ATLANTIC STUDIOS.”

[A show full of extremely rare songs, including the one-of-a-kind “Kicked In The Teeth”]
 Such a show with the original reel sound depicts a dizzying stage with extremely rare songs. As mentioned above, the official “LIVE FROM THE ATLANTIC STUDIOS” is a symbol of live performances from this period, so let’s organize them by comparing them.

●High Voltage (1 song + 3 songs)
・Australian version: Baby, Please Don’t Go (★)
・World version (TNT): Live Wire / The Jack / High Voltage
●Other (3 songs + 2 songs)
・Rock Spirit: Hell Ain’t A Bad Place To Be / Whole Lotta Rosie / Problem Child
・Powerage: Up To My Neck In You (★) / Kicked In The Teeth (★★)
*Note: The “★” mark indicates a song that wasn’t on the official version of “LIVE FROM THE ATLANTIC STUDIOS.” In particular, the “★★” mark indicates the only existing recording.

…And so it goes. “Baby, Please Don’t Go” on the Australian version of “HIGH VOLTAGE” is a must-have, but even more so are “Up To My Neck In You” and “Kicked In The Teeth,” which were performed prior to the production of “POWERAGE”! Both are extremely rare songs, only performed at the time Bon Scott was alive. Even though “Up To My Neck In You” was revived in 2001, this recording of “Kicked In The Teeth” is a unique record.

 While the 1997 release “LIVE FROM THE ATLANTIC STUDIOS” was a shock, this release is the second most impactful master in 30 years. This newly discovered reel master delivers the ultra-rare “Baby Please Don’t Go,” the ultra-rare “Up To My Neck In You,” and the ultimate rarity “Kicked In The Teeth” in fully official quality. Experience it to your heart’s content!
