SPEAK-EZY – 2 CD
Description
‘
★A brand new remaster (not a copy) from the original master used for the legendary Red Phantom label album “ROCK’S HOTTEST TICKET,” which was released in the ’90s and features U2’s April 29, 1987 North American tour performance in Rosemont (near Chicago)!
★With phase correction and EQ adjustments to the low and high frequencies, this recording surpasses the sound of the Red Phantom version!
The definitive title from the undeniably great ’87 “Joshua Tree” tour!
While an analog LP version was released in real time in ’87, the most famous version is undoubtedly “ROCK’S HOTTEST TICKET” (2CD), released around ’91 on the old label “Red Phantom”.
The title “Red Phantom” was apparently pressed a total of three times at the time, and the fact that it was later re-released under the name “Octpus,” which is in the same series as “Red Phantom,” shows just how big a hit the title was.
This title is a brand new remaster from the stereo Aud master tapes used for the Red Phantom release (not a copy of the Red Phantom release)!
This audio recording is simply incredibly high-quality, without any need for explanation. It’s not an exaggeration to say it’s “even better than a soundboard recording,” rather than just “like a soundboard recording.” The closeness of the sound, the balance of each instrument, the moderate and natural audience noise, and the pleasant atmosphere of the live performance are all impeccable. If I had to nitpick, the only drawback is that the intro to “In God’s Country” is cut.
However, the original master, in its flat state, lacked a bit of punch, so this release features bass correction, mainly in the low and high frequencies, and also slightly corrects the phase and pitch, making it undoubtedly the definitive version of this performance.
Incidentally, the Red Phantom version also has reinforced low and high frequencies, and although there is some high-frequency noise at 16kHz, I am impressed by the very well thought out and skillful mastering work.
Furthermore, the only cut in the song, the beginning of “In God’s Country,” was edited to be slightly longer on the Red Phantom version, resulting in a seamless transition. However, in this version, in order to capture the original master’s musical sound without any loss, only the silent parts of the tape were removed, resulting in the inclusion of a section of about 6 seconds that was not heard on the Red Phantom version.
Live at Rosemont Horizon, Rosemont, IL, USA 29 April 1987
