The Sphere, Las Vegas, NV, USA 15th December 2023
Truly “completely official”! Two shocking, latest, and superb IEM albums will be released simultaneously!
This is the second part of a two-part series. It’s a transcendent in-ear monitor intercepted recording of the “Las Vegas performance on December 15, 2023.” This two-part series was recorded at the concert residency “U2:UV Achtung Baby Live” at the other-dimensional venue “Sphere.” Our store’s classic soundboard press album “FINAL SPHERE SHOW (Wardour-607)” reigns supreme, and this week, this and its sister album “THE SPHERE 2023 SHOW 23 MULTIPLE IEM RECORDING (Wardour-701)” are also being released simultaneously. First, let’s check the relative positions of the three works on the schedule.
●2023
・September 29 – December 9 (22 performances)
*December 13 『THE SPHERE 2023 SHOW 23 (Sister piece)』
*December 15 『THE SPHERE 2023 SHOW 24』←★Main piece★
・December 16 (Final day)
●2024
・January 26 – March 1 (14 performances)
*March 2 『FINAL SPHERE SHOW』
[Completely official transcendent IEM master]
This is the entire schedule of “U2: UV Achtung Baby Live”. 25 performances were held in 2023, and this work is the penultimate concert. This is the next show after the simultaneously released “THE SPHERE 2023 SHOW 23”, and it is not just a sister work, but a twin work.
And that quality is worthy of being called a twin work, a completely official, transcendent sound. This is not a given. In the first place, IEMs are the audio used by on-site staff to proceed with the show. It is not uncommon for there to be sound quality issues, and depending on the item, there may be counts, clicks, or work instructions, and the mix balance may be odd. However, this work has absolutely no such “IEM concerns.”
It’s surprising that the essential sound quality is perfect, but there’s also absolutely no operational noise, and the sound is seamless and stable with no dropouts. And above all, the balance of the mix of each instrument (and even the cheers) is extremely well-balanced, making it an extremely beautiful piece of music. “Sphere” is known not only for its all-sky screen but also for its sound equipment, which is on another level, but to think that even the IEMs (which the audience doesn’t hear) were on the level of an official live album…it’s just shocking.
[A one-of-a-kind special set featuring super rare songs]
Such a transcendent sound creates a full show unlike any other performance. The reason for this is the set list. Let’s organize it here by comparing it with “FINAL SPHERE SHOW” and “THE SPHERE 2023 SHOW 23.”
●Achtung Baby (Part 1: 8 songs)
・Zoo Station / The Fly / Even Better Than The Real Thing / Mysterious Ways / One / Until The End Of The World / Who’s Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses / Tryin’ To Throw Your Arms Around The World
●”Turntable” section (4 songs)
・Atomic Bomb Dissection New Book: City of Blinding Lights (★*)
・80s: Pride (In the Name of Love) (★*) / I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For (*) / Christmas (Baby, Please Come Home) (★*)
●Acton Baby (Part 2: 4 songs)
Acrobat / So Cruel / Ultraviolet (Light My Way) / Love Is Blindness
●Encore (6 songs)
Joshua Tree: Where the Streets Have No Name / With or Without You
Others: Elevation / Atomic City / Vertigo / Beautiful Day
*Note: The “★” mark indicates the sister work “THE SPHERE 2023 SHOW 24: MULTIPLE IEM RECORDING (Wardour-702)”, and the “*” mark indicates a song that cannot be heard on the soundboard press masterpiece “FINAL SPHERE SHOW (Wardour-607)”.
…And that’s how it went. The “U2:UV Achtung Baby Live” performance, which features a full-sky monitor, is structured in a way that makes it difficult to change the set, but in the “Turntable” section in the middle, you can enjoy different songs every day. Unlike “FINAL SPHERE SHOW” and “THE SPHERE 2023 SHOW 23,” there are no “RATTLE AND HUM” numbers, and the selection is diverse and colorful.
A must-listen is “Christmas (Baby, Please Come Home).” Originally featured on the 1987 compilation album “A Very Special Christmas,” this is the second time the song has been performed live in 36 years. It’s an incredibly rare track, unique not only in the “U2:UV Achtung Baby Live” collection, but also in the entire history of U2.
This is a dazzling and extremely rare set, comparable to “THE SPHERE 2023 SHOW 23,” which features a deliciously rich set even for “U2: UV Achtung Baby Live.” It’s a shocking two-part series that allows you to enjoy these two performances with completely official quality. An official live album is no longer necessary for “U2: UV Achtung Baby Live.” Please enjoy it to the fullest with the permanent preservation press 2CD.
★A superb IEM album from the “Sphere Performance on December 15, 2023.” It’s a completely official, shocking master, with absolutely no work noise and a seamless, stable sound with no sound interruptions. And above all, the mix of each instrument (including even the cheers) is extremely well-balanced, making it an extremely beautiful piece of music. This is an absolute must-have album, allowing you to enjoy a rare full show, including “Christmas (Baby, Please Come Home)” for the first time in 36 years, as well as daily specials.
