PRINCE – COME ORIGINAL TEST PRESS (CD-R)

Description

Prince released two albums in 1994 and 1995, “Come” and “The Gold Experience,” but the former was considered the last studio album under the name Prince, and the latter the first album under his iconic symbol, so it was thought that they were created by different personalities. Of course, they were both created by the same Prince.

It’s well-known that when Prince was planning the release of Come, he envisioned an original version of the album that didn’t include the title track, which forms the backbone of the album. Now, incredibly, they’ve obtained that original master CDR, and it will be pressed directly onto a CD without any remastering, in its purest form, for permanent preservation. The original CDR, produced in 1994, has deteriorated to the point where it’s no longer playable. In fact, this original was a highly sought-after item among Prince collectors, trading for hundreds of thousands of yen. They’ve managed to restore it once again, completely extracting the audio, and will press it directly from there. This original test pressing of Come starts with Poem (Vanity’s moans), then moves on to Interactive, which wasn’t included on either Come or Gold at the time, and then to Endorphine Machine (the separated notation indicates this version). And finally to Strays Of The World, which was later included on Crystal Ball. It’s a Come with a completely different concept, compiled from various projects under Prince’s name. Gold Experience later rearranged these tracks further, so the Gold versions here are still in the demo stage, pure Prince, with tracks seamlessly connected to each other. It’s a simple test pressing, yet in a way complete, a very Prince-esque album that’s fascinating. The paper sleeve, which replicates Prince’s original masters, is also a nice touch! Comes with an obi strip.
