Description

Parachute Recordings is releasing for the first time on vinyl (double, and unofficial) a spectacular concert by The Pogues recorded on March 1, 1985 at McGonagle’s in Dublin. A special occasion for the Anglo-Irish band who had never before performed on the Emerald Isle and who in this set mainly features songs from the first two albums “Red Roses For Me” and “Rum, Sodomy & The Lash” including “Boys From The County Hell” (in two versions), “Dark Streets Of London”, “Streams Of Whiskey”, “Sally MacLennane”, the wonderful “A Pair Of Brown Eyes” (one of Shane MacGowan’s masterpieces) and the heartbreaking “And The Band Played Waltzing Matilda” by Eric Bogle. In addition to MacGowan (vocals), the band then included guitarist and multi-instrumentalist Jem Finer, accordionist James Fearnley, singer and tin whistle player Spider Stacy, bassist Cait O’Riordan and drummer Andrew Rankin.
