Description

Camp Municipal Narcís Sala, Barcelona, Spain 1st October 1983

Along with their masterpiece “SYNCHRONICITY,” THE POLICE became the darlings of the era in 1983. Now available is a soundboard album that will let you experience their climax live performance in your mind.

This work includes the “October 1, 1983 Barcelona performance.” This is a stereo soundboard recording. Speaking of the “SYNCHRONICITY Tour” soundboard, the Atlanta performances of the official works “LIVE!” and “SYNCHRONICITY CONCERT,” as well as our press masterpiece “MONTREAL 1983 SOUNDBOARD (Wardour-596),” are major staples at the time. This work is a completely different, special piece. First, let’s take a bird’s-eye view of the world tour and confirm this work’s position.

[A new soundboard has arrived from the hidden land of sound sources, “Europe”]
This is THE POLICE from 1983/1984. It was a massive world tour that spanned North America and Europe, crossing the oceans. Compared to the Atlanta performance of “North America #2,” which produced the official album, “North America #1,” which includes our classic pressings “MONTREAL 1983 SOUNDBOARD” and “SHEA STADIUM 1983,” and the UK leg of “WEMBLEY ARENA 1983 1ST NIGHT,” the “Europe” leg was a remote, uncharted territory with very few recordings. The Barcelona performance featured on this album was the 10th concert. The day after this show was Sting’s 32nd birthday, and this album is a live album of that birthday performance. In fact, there’s even a birthday song included after the main show, adding a touching touch to the performance.

This work, conveying such a show, is a newly discovered, upgraded master. While the soundboard itself has been known for some time, this work was only recently released by an overseas collector. It includes the previously missing “So Lonely,” and the sound is much fresher. The recording and mix are too raw to be touted as “completely official!”, but the raw feel of the worn-out soundboard is only appealing. Sting’s bass, Andy’s guitar, and Stewart’s drums are clearly separated and imprinted in your brain, allowing you to fully enjoy the thrill of synchronizing your entire body with THE POLICE.

[A Full Show with Fun Birthday Songs]
This soundboard depicts a fulfilling full show that summarizes their career, centered around the “SYNCHRONICITY” numbers. While the “MONTREAL 1983 SOUNDBOARD” followed the approximately 64-minute TV broadcast time slot, this work is approximately 88 minutes long. Let’s organize it by comparing it with the official “LIVE!”

●Synchronicity (9 songs)
・Synchronicity I/Synchronicity II/Walking in Your Footsteps/O My God/Wrapped Around Your Finger/Tea in the Sahara/King of Pain/Every Breath You Take/Murder by Numbers (★★)
●Others (9 songs +α)
・Outlandes d’Amour: Roxanne/Can’t Stand Losin’ You/So Lonely (*)
・White Regatta: Message in a Bottle/Walking On the Moon (★)
・Zenyatta Mondatta: De Do Do Do, De Da Da Da/Don’t Stand So Close To Me
・Ghost in the Machine: Invisible Sun (★)/One World (Not Three) (★)
*Note: Songs marked with “★” are not available at the Atlanta performance on the official album “LIVE!”. Songs marked with “★★” are not also on the video version of “SYNCHRONICITY CONCERT”. Songs marked with “*” are not available on the previous master.

…And that’s how it goes. In addition to the generous performance of nine of the 11 tracks on “SYNCHRONICITY,” the album also includes plenty of repertoire not heard on the official “LIVE!” album. Furthermore, it includes numbers such as “O My God,” “De Do Do Do, De Da Da Da,” and “Don’t Stand So Close To Me,” which were not available on the classic press album “MONTREAL 1983 SOUNDBOARD.”
And above all, “Murder by Numbers” is a delicious song that is not even included in the official “LIVE!” or “SYNCHRONICITY CONCERT” albums.

And the fun part of this work is after “Roxanne”. It even includes a birthday song celebrating Sting’s birthday, and the special night atmosphere surrounded by the enthusiastic Spanish audience emerges until the very end.

A long-awaited soundboard has arrived from the hidden European leg of the sound source. This is the first appearance of the tapes that have been preserved along with the memory of a five-year-old boy witnessing his first concert on his father’s shoulders. This is a new treasure from the SYNCHRONICITY Tour, featuring the full show, “O My God,” and even Sting’s birthday song, not available on the MONTREAL 1983 SOUNDBOARD. Enjoy to your heart’s content!

★ This is a stereo soundboard recording of the “October 1, 1983 Barcelona Concert.” This upgraded master, released by an overseas enthusiast, is the longest version available, including “So Lonely,” a track not included on the previous version. Including “O My God,” previously unavailable on the MONTREAL 1983 SOUNDBOARD, this new masterpiece allows you to experience Sting’s special birthday night, complete with the birthday song.
