Description
The Wings UK Tour of 1979 stopped at the Glasgow Apollo on December 16 and 17 of that year: the second date, professionally recorded and frequently bootlegged, is back in circulation on a double CD in a Japanese press and a limited edition on the Vivid label. From that show, the live recording of “Coming Up” was released, which reached number one in the US and Canadian charts the following year; another new “Macca” track was the Christmas single “Wonderful Christmastime”, which was performed at the Scottish concert along with several tracks from the Wings album “Back To The Egg” (Getting Closer, “Old Siam, Sir,” “Arrow Through Me,” and the Denny Laine-penned “Again And Again And Again”), Beatles songs, solo hits, other tracks from the group’s back catalog, and covers of Eddie Cochran’s “Twenty Flight Rock” and Bessie Banks’s “Go Now.” For the performance of “Mull Of Kintyre”, in Glasgow the Wings were joined on stage by the bagpipes of the Campbeltown Pipe Band, while in other songs the quintet composed of Paul (vocals, bass, guitar and piano), Linda McCartney (keyboards and vocals), Laine (guitar, bass and vocals), Laurence Juber (lead guitar) and Steve Holley (drums) was reinforced by the brass section led by Howie Casey already present on the previous tour.
