Description
This release captures the June 26, 1977, Los Angeles performance. It’s the longest recording yet, primarily based on first-generation tapes and supplemented with multiple sources. The main tracks, “White Summer – Black Mountain Side” and “Guitar Solo,” have cuts and short gaps, which are supplemented with other sources. Minor gaps, including MCs, were also added between “No Quarter” and “Ten Years Gone.” While the sound quality on other days was excellent, listening to previous releases left the impression that this day wasn’t particularly good. However, the first-generation tapes used primarily for this release offer a high level of quality that overturns that impression. While not on par with Eddie’s, they certainly rank among the best in 1977. The June 26, 1977, Los Angeles performance, primarily based on first-generation tapes and supplemented with multiple sources, is the longest recording yet. Incidentally, “That’s Alright Mama” was played as a sideshow during the acoustic set, but Elvis died about a month and a half later on August 16, 1977. This completes the six consecutive performances from Los Angeles in 1977 on the Wendy label. This is a permanently preserved pressing with a beautiful picture disc.
