$29.95
SHADES – CD-R
Description
The master cassette of Arthur Stead, (keyboard player in the original Comet line up in 1984-1985) of the original first Frehley’s Comet album that was never released.
Shades recently released the Bronze and Megaforce demos by Ace Frehley’s Frehley’s Comet. Now it is time for the release of the original, unreleased first Frehley’s Comet album.
This CD contains fully mixed studio recordings, most of which did not appear on the album that was eventually released in 1987. All tracks are presented in outstanding sound quality, sourced from the recently leaked master cassette belonging to keyboard player Arthur Stead.
This is a truly unique discovery that will amaze the KISS community and give fans something to talk about for many years to come.
★The legendary, unreleased 1st album!
FREHLEY’S COMET’s legendary 1st studio album, which was produced three years before their official debut, has been newly unearthed! An ultra-premium master leaked by Arthur Stead, a member at the time, is being released urgently!
This album contains what was supposed to be Frehley’s Comet’s official debut studio album, completed between the end of 1984 and the beginning of 1985. Despite being fully mixed and mastered, it was shelved because a record deal never materialized, making it a legendary, unreleased official work.
The master tape originated from Arthur Stead, the keyboardist at the time. Recently, the master cassette he owned surfaced among a very small number of ultra-core collectors. A lost chapter in rock history has finally been unveiled.
[Newly unearthed finished album owned by the original members]
The most important thing to consider about this work is that it is a “finished product.” We have previously introduced early Frehley’s Comet releases such as ‘Bronze Records Demos 1984 (Shades 2546)’ and ‘Megaforce Demos 1985 (Shades 2547)’, but this one is different. Let’s organize the relationship between this and the previous demo albums in chronological order.
●1984
Spring: Songwriting demos
Mid-year: Demo sessions ←※BRONZE RECORDS DEMOS 1984
Late 1984: Band rehearsals and live tests ←※SIR STUDIOS 1984 ●1985 Early
1985 : Final master of 1st album completed ←★This album★ 《May: Arthur Stead leaves → Summer: Rob Savino joins》 Mid-year: Recording more demos ←※MEGAFORCE DEMOS 1985 ●1986 《Richie Scarlett / Rob Savino leaves》 This is a brief history from 1984 to 1986. Detailed documents from that time have yet to be found, and with Ace’s death, new testimonies have become difficult to obtain. The above is also a compilation of fragmented materials such as magazine articles and is not 100% confirmed. With that in mind, please view this as a rough overview.
In any case, this work is a record of the stage after the rough demo recording (BRONZE) in 1984, when the material was completed into an album.
This is Frehley’s Comet’s “ideal first album.” However, a record deal didn’t materialize at this point, and the project was shelved. Some of the material would be partially reworked for their 1987 debut album (and that’s how “Megaforce Demos 1985” was created).
And the sound quality is completely official-grade. While “BRONZE RECORDS DEMOS 1984” was merely a “provisional album to secure a contract,” this work is an even more advanced “finished product completed with the intention of official release.” Although there is some sound distortion in some tracks due to the master cassette, the recording itself is 100% perfect. Not only is the mix perfect, but it is also a proper LP sequence that has been mastered at Sterling Sound, and the track order is arranged with the flow of an album in mind.
[The full details of the phantom 1st album that does not overlap with the 1987 work at all]
This phantom album consists of 11 tracks and is approximately 44 and a half minutes long. The tracklist itself is the same as “BRONZE RECORDS DEMOS 1984,” and some of the songs were later included (in re-recorded versions) on official albums. Let’s check it out while reviewing that situation.
●Songs that were later re-recorded on official releases (3 songs)
: Back Into My Arms Again [10,000 VOLTS] / Remember Me [TROUBLE WALKIN’] / Give It To Me Anyway [LOADED DECK]
●Songs that do not have an official version (8 songs)
: Stay Alive / I Got The Touch / Animal / Audio Video / The Girl Can’t Dance / I’m So Wired / The Hurt’s On / Rock Or Be Rocked
…and so on. Not a single song overlaps with the official debut albums “FREHLEY’S COMET” and “SECOND SIGHTING” that were actually released in 1987. Yet, the level of completion is comparable to an official album. It is as if a complete “true first album” existed. For fans who have heard the early versions on “BRONZE RECORDS DEMOS 1984”, this album, in which those demos have come to fruition, is especially moving.
The legendary first album of Frehley’s Comet, resurrected from Arthur Stead’s master cassette. Here are 11 tracks that would have been released in 1985 if a record deal had been finalized. Please enjoy them to the fullest.
★The legendary first album of Frehley’s Comet, which was shelved. The sound, resurrected from the master cassette owned by original keyboardist Arthur Stead, is of official quality and is on a different level from their previous demos. You can enjoy 11 tracks, none of which overlap with their official debut album. The “true first album” has finally appeared!
