EUROPEAN IMPORT – 2 CD In September 1981 the Clash began recording their fifth album “Combat Rock” (which would be released in May of the following year); four months later, in January, they undertook a Japanese tour followed by dates in New Zealand and Australia and a concert in Hong Kong (then still a British colony usually snubbed by big tours), where the English quartet performed on 25 February 1982 at the Academic Community Hall in Kowloon. As can be heard in the unofficial recording of the show taken from the radio and reproduced on CD by Wickerman, Joe Strummer had his work cut out to keep a decidedly enthusiastic and undisciplined audience at bay, ready to let loose in front of a group then at the peak of its form. which in the set of 34 songs placed the new “Know Your Rights” alongside the ancient classics and the highlights of “Sandinista!
