In the 1960s The Beatles records were produced in various countries around the world and were released in a variety of forms that differed from the British original, from the unique mastering and cutting of the sound source to the jacket design. Even after that, in the analog era before digitalization with CDs, there were many variations in the re-releases around the world. As information is now being shared and verified by collectors around the world, the album versions, which are attracting particular attention as the ultimate items coveted by enthusiasts, are being completely recorded in extremely fresh stereo and mono via direct transfer from each master analog record, making this “Premium Vinyl Collection” a culmination of the best sound sources. This premium sound source collection consists of a CD containing the ultimate analog sound source and an audio DVD containing four sound sources, including high-quality high-resolution sound sources.
This collection is “Let It Be”, released in May 1970 as The Beatles’ last album. It is the soundtrack of the movie of the same name, and was released after The Beatles had effectively broken up, and it reached number one on many album charts in the UK, the US, and other countries around the world. The production of this album began in January 1969 as the “Get Back Sessions”. The project was changed from a TV show to a documentary film, including the legendary “Rooftop Concert” on the roof of the Apple, and filming was also carried out in parallel. It was originally planned to be released as the album “Get Back”, and engineer Glyn Johns produced it, but it was shelved without being released. After that, The Beatles focused on recording their next album, and in September 1969 they quickly released the album “Abbey Road”. Although this was essentially the last album produced by The Beatles, they asked Phil Spector to produce the album with the release of the movie “Let It Be” in May 1970. The original album “Get Back” was edited with changes to the tracks, additional recordings, and orchestral overdubs, and was finally completed as the album “Let It Be”. It was released at the same time as the movie, and became The Beatles’ last album. The album “Let It Be” was released in the UK and Japan as a limited edition box set with a full-color photo book, but in the US it was released in a gatefold jacket with a layout from the photo book. The first half of this CD contains the original stereo sound source from the UK original first pressing. The texture unique to analog is recorded in a straight and natural sound that is different from the digital remaster. The second half of the CD contains the original mono sound source from the UK version of the open reel tape. Until now, stereo and mono versions have been released in the UK throughout the 1960s, but only stereo was released from the album “Abbey Road”. Although it was not released on record, it was also released in mono on the UK version of the open reel tape at the time. No mixing was done for the mono version, and the mix is the same as the stereo folded down to mono version, but it is a valuable item released only in the UK, and it is also unusual that the order of the songs is different from the record due to the recording time. The texture of the sound unique to analog tape, which is different from the record, is also noteworthy. The DVD is a “High Resolution & HQ Audio Selection” and contains four types of sound sources, including high-quality high-resolution sound sources, in audio DVD format, so you can compare the differences in the sound sources. Audio 1 contains the stereo sound source of the original British first pressing. You can listen to the sound of the analog record as it is in a high-quality high-resolution format (96 khz / 24 bit) that reproduces the texture of the record with high specifications higher than CD. Audio 2 contains a valuable mono sound source from the UK version open reel tape, the same as the CD recording. Audio 3 contains the so-called “WALLY” cut version reissued by Capitol in the US in 1979. Although the American version of this album initially had a matrix of BELL sound by Phil Spector, the sound quality of each reissue has not been very good. Among these American versions, the 1979 reissue cut by Capitol engineer Wally Trout has been highly praised as the best sound quality among the many American versions. The sound from this “WALLY” cut version, which is now becoming difficult to obtain, has been recorded directly, so you can compare the differences. Audio 4 contains the stereo sound source from the Mobile Fidelity (MFSL) version released in the United States in 1982. It is a sound source recorded from the popular Mobile version, which is considered to be the highest quality analog master as an audio reference with excellent clarity and balance compared to the regular versions of many countries, and is a sound source recorded from the popular Mobile version, which is a limited record pressing of the stereo sound source from the original British master in high sound quality. All except Audio 1, which is high-resolution, are recorded with HQ (high quality 48 khz) sound source, which has specifications higher than CD. The DVD video features a slideshow of each record jacket and label photo, and allows you to select each sound source using the audio selection. This is the “Let It Be” special edition, which reproduces all of the precious analog sound sources that have now become high-value, treasured premium items. This is the ultimate, complete reproduction, permanent collection of records, with a coated paper jacket that imitates the British version and reproduces the authentic original analog sound.
