[The Beatles Anthology Project]
The “Anthology” project, which compiled the history of The Beatles from their origins to their breakup, was planned for many years and announced in 1995 as a wide-ranging project ranging from a trilogy of albums featuring rare recordings to books and video works including TV broadcasts, attracting the attention of Beatles fans around the world. The trilogy of albums chronicles the band’s history, from their pre-debut period through to their breakup. Featuring previously unreleased studio outtakes, TV footage, and live concert recordings, the project also features two new songs, “Free as a Bird” and “Real Love,” based on recordings left behind by John Lennon. The final new song in the trilogy, “Now and Then,” remained unreleased at the time, but was finally released in 2023 for the first time in 27 years. It still garnered attention as the “final new Beatles song.” Unreleased Beatles material was previously planned for release on the album “Sessions,” but was shelved. In the 1980s, unofficial releases like “Ultra Rare Tracks” and “Underpast Masters” were unofficially released. The trilogy of albums and video works from this “anthology” project garnered significant attention at the time as a culmination of previously unreleased recordings and footage. However, “Anthology” is a carefully selected collection, and there are still many unreleased recordings from Abbey Road Studios, as well as live recordings and footage from around the world that have yet to be released. Future releases, including new discoveries, are anticipated.

[Anthology 3: Anniversary Edition]
This 30th Anniversary Edition of “Anthology 3” features a newly edited and expanded version of all 83 tracks, including numerous unreleased tracks from the 1996 release, including outtakes, demos, TV shows, and live performances. Compared to the original, the sound quality has been improved, and the album has been edited without cuts, and AI-edited demixing has been used to convert mono to true stereo. The album has also been completely updated and renewed with new masters for all tracks, including newly discovered and never-before-seen recordings. “Anthology 3” begins with the 1968 White Album sessions, continues with the January 1969 Get Back sessions, and includes their final recording, “Abbey Road,” the 1995 reunion of Paul, George, and Ringo, as well as the virtual reunion tracks, including the still-unreleased “Grow Old With Me,” and “Now and Then,” which was initially postponed and finally saw the light of day in 2023. Like the original, Disc 1 features a significantly expanded selection of White Album-related material. The acoustic “Esher Demos,” previously included in the 2018 Deluxe Edition, are newly remixed from multitrack recordings. Also included are unreleased session material, as well as recordings from David Frost’s TV studio live performance and “Rock and Roll Circus.” Additionally, the album features recordings from the “Get Back Sessions” and “Abbey Road” albums in a brand new stereo mix, along with newly added tracks not previously included on the originals, such as “Goodbye” and “Here Comes the Sun.” The album also includes a reunion session featuring Paul, George, and Ringo, later released as part of the Anthology project. The album also includes the still-unreleased “Grow Old With Me” and the supposed final new song, “Now and Then,” in a previously unreleased complete version featuring John’s chorus, different from the final version. Both tracks feature newly remixed versions, with John’s vocals cleaned up for a more realistic sound and the performances themselves of higher quality. These new versions are sure to evoke new emotions as the best remixes available.
