Description
Released by Expensive Woodland Recordings, the box set “Radio Waves – Collected Broadcasts” like the other volumes in the series contains out-of-copyright recordings. The first two discs document the Who’s appearances on European radio and television programs from 1965 to 1967, the period between the release of their debut album “My Generation” and their third LP, “The Who Sell Out.” The selection includes songs such as “My Generation,” “Anyway, Anyhow, Anywhere,” “La-La-La Lies,” “Substitute,” “A Quick One,” “I’m A Boy,” “Boris The Spider,” “Pictures Of Lily,” “Happy Jack,” “I Can See For Miles,” Eddie Cochran’s “Summertime Blues,” and covers of songs by the Rascals, Martha and the Vandellas, and the Beach Boys. the third and fourth reproduce a 1970 concert in Massachusetts with a setlist centered on the revival of the rock opera “Tommy”, and the fifth a 1981 show in Berlin with old 60s classics alternating with pieces from “Who’s Next”, “Quadrophenia” and “Who Are You”
