Description
The live recordings collected in this unofficial double CD on the Live Icons label and dating back to the best period of the Who, between “Tommy”, “Who’s Next” and “Quadrophenia”, come from heterogeneous sources (all radio). The highlights of those albums are joined by old classics such as “My Generation”, “A Quick One While He’s Away”, “I Can’t Explain”, “Substitute”, “Tattoo”, “Happy Jack”, “I’m A Boy”, “Young Man Blues” by Mose Allison and “Shakin’ All Over” by Johnny Kidd & The Pirates: all taken from the famous set of August 17, 1969 at the Woodstock Festival broadcast by WNEW-FM, from the show of September 29 of the same year at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam broadcast by AVRO FM, from the one of July 7, 1970 at the Tanglewood Music Centre in Lenox, Massachusetts broadcast by WBCN-FM and from the shows of December 4 and 6, 1973 held respectively at the Spectrum in Philadelphia and at the Capital Center in Landover, Maryland, both broadcast as part of the “King Biscuit Flower Hour”.
