West Palm Beach Auditorium, West Palm Beach, FL, USA 6th July 1979 STEREO SBD
★UPGRADE
The masterpiece soundboard from the “Legendary Bomber” era, which was unearthed four years ago and shook the whole world, has been brushed up! It will be released on a 2-CD press that will permanently preserve the highest peak update sound by “GRAF ZEPPELIN”!
This work is engraved with the “July 6, 1979 West Palm Beach performance.” It is a superb stereo soundboard recording. The “WORLD VACATION Tour 1979” accompanying “Legendary Bomber” was VAN HALEN’s first headlining world tour, and the historic, superb soundboards “TUCSON 1979 (Zodiac 306)” and “OSAKA 1979 2ND NIGHT (Zodiac 307)” are also very popular. This work is an upgrade of one of the “three major soundboards” that are alongside such super-famous albums. First, let’s take a look at the relative positions of each of the three major soundboards from an overview of their activities at the time.

[An incredible soundboard with excellent stability despite being directly connected]
This is the 1979 VAN HALEN. The three major soundboards all have different legs, and this West Palm Beach performance was the second performance of “North America # 2,” the earliest performance. It was a concert about two months before the performance in Japan.

The soundboard from this show was unearthed in 2021. What was most shocking was its quality. It was a direct-connection system to the mix table that prioritized rawness, but it was also an incredible thing that combined stability and good balance. For example, there are currently a series of newly excavated soundboards from the 1982 “HIDE YOUR SHEEP Tour,” but that has some missed recordings and the balance of the mix is disturbed in places. This work has almost no such sense of violence. Perhaps the quality of the on-site mix itself was high. The raw, raw feeling is fully open, and the panning is blown away with a tremendous left-right width that is impossible in an official work, but that feeling is undisturbed and the full show is carried through.
[A top-of-the-line updated album with a sense of artistic quality enhanced by GRAF ZEPPELIN mastering]
This was a truly shocking soundboard discovery, and this latest release is its pinnacle. GRAF ZEPPELIN has refined the impactful 2021 master to a new pinnacle. GRAF ZEPPELIN mastering utilizes a variety of techniques to bring out the full potential of the original sound, including pitch and phase correction and various noise processing techniques. The key to this release is “artistic quality.” For example, even the subtle phase shifts that occurred only in the first half of the album are corrected to stabilize the sound positioning, and even the most subtle noises are carefully removed one by one. Furthermore, the balance adjustments after frequency band analysis are meticulous. The bass, which had been somewhat spoiled, has been strengthened (without compromising its natural feel), restoring the original VAN HALEN ensemble with ultra-realism.

Such a top-of-the-line updated sound is a hard rock utopia that condenses and reduces the two great masterpieces “Flame Fuse” and “Legendary Bomber” and explodes with stage tension. The set is already familiar, but it’s so spectacular that we’ll repost it at the end.

The full show alone is heart-pounding, but this release also includes bonus tracks to make it even more satisfying. It includes additional tracks from the tour rehearsals, including “Dance the Night Away” and “Beautiful Girls.” While the rehearsal recordings have been known for some time, this release is a master unearthed in conjunction with the live performance, and like the live performance itself, it’s a top-notch updated version, mastered by “GRAF ZEPPELIN.”
A departure from their debut tour, which featured many opening acts, the “World Vacation Tour” showcased the Van Halen world as a dignified headliner. This is a super-exciting live album that will immerse you in the full show with its transcendent sound. This press CD, mastered by “GRAF ZEPPELIN,” has been enhanced to enhance the musical quality of the work. Please enjoy it anytime, anywhere.
