Description
Cow Palace, Daly City, CA, USA 15th September 1982 STEREO SBD
The first appearance of the soundboard series of the “HIDE YOUR SHEEP Tour”, which has begun new excavations in 2026. The latest work will be released in two titles at the same time!
This work is the second part of a two-part series released simultaneously. It is a stereo soundboard recording of the “September 15, 1982 Daily City performance (day 2).” As you may have already noticed, this work is a sister work to the simultaneously released “SAN FRANCISCO 1982 1ST NIGHT SOUNDBOARD (Zodiac 836)” and the day after the same venue…no, it’s a twin work.
[The largest soundboard collection in rock history in both quality and quantity]
The tour situation at the time and an overview of the newly excavated series will be explained in the sister work “1ST NIGHT (Zodiac 836)”. Here, in order to organize the collection, let’s take a look at the 1982 soundboard titles that have been excavated so far.

A total of 15 works. This work is the fourth work of “North America # 2” and is also the third consecutive performance following “LA FORUM 1982 3RD NIGHT SOUNDBOARD (Zodiac 803)” and its sister work “1ST NIGHT (Zodiac 836)”.
This work is a new masterpiece that reveals a show that has never been recorded before. Of course, it’s not just a first appearance, but the sound is superb, with a mix table leak. As usual, it was recorded directly from the mix table by the engineer at the time, “Roy,” and the sound image is extremely thick and vivid. While the balance is rough as it is with the PA table, the separation of each instrument is outstanding, and the momentum of the performance and the heat of the venue flow directly into your brain.
[Performances, fights, final performances… A must-listen night full of highlights]
While the sound quality will be familiar to those familiar with the previous series, the key to this work is the show itself. The band was clearly in high spirits that night, with a level of energy that was elevated throughout the entire performance, making it a “good day” with a sense of ease and playfulness in the performance. For example, in the opening song “Romeo Delight,” Dave sings the same phrase “feel my heart beat…” as in the studio version during the break, which is an extremely unusual scene for this tour.
The middle track, “Little Guitars,” is interesting in a different way. From the middle of the set, Eddie’s guitar clearly began to malfunction, sounding out of tune. It seems he continued playing despite the string trouble, exuding a sense of precariousness not usually heard. Furthermore, during “Cathedral,” Eddie was suddenly interrupted for a few seconds by a powerful reverb sound. According to a member of the audience who witnessed the incident, an orange apparently thrown from the audience hit the guitar strings directly. Eddie reportedly raised both hands to incite the crowd, a truly unique happening that can only happen at a live concert.
In “Everybody Wants Some,” the atmosphere becomes somewhat turbulent just before the usual talk part begins. Just as the voice on the microphone sounds “crazy mother fucker,” Dave replies, “look at this mother fucker’s eyes.” Vivid remarks fly around, and even during the usual girl talk, he gets extremely edgy, saying, “I’m going to throw your ass in the audience.” Since there are no detailed testimonies or footage, the truth of the matter is unknown, but the extraordinary atmosphere is transmitted through the soundboard directly connected to the brain.
The second half of the album is packed with highlights. During the jam of “Somebody Get Me A Doctor,” Dave lets out a series of strange noises and shouts, completely over-exciting the band. And during the break of “Ain’t Talkin’ ‘Bout Love,” Eddie inserts a unique phrase reminiscent of “Cathedral.”
Furthermore, what makes this show historic is “DOA,” and in fact this day is the last live performance. There are days without recording, so I can’t say for sure, but this is the last sound record.
Just when you think they’re in top form and flying away, there are mistakes that seem to be too much momentum, a disturbing atmosphere that seems to be fighting, and even the historic “DOA” pops out. The rush of excavation tends to numb the superb quality, but this work is more interesting than the direct sound “live itself”. This new masterpiece will shed light on that miraculous night and imprint it in your brain. Please enjoy it anytime, anywhere with the permanent preservation press 2CD.
★This is the first stereo soundboard recording of the “September 15, 1982 Daily City Performance (Day 2).” It was recorded directly from the mixing desk by a man named “Roy,” who was the engineer at the time. The live performance itself was in top form, but there were also some overly ambitious mistakes and a disturbing, belligerent atmosphere, even featuring the historic “DOA.” This is an exceptionally interesting and must-listen piece in the series.
