Description

Cow Palace, Daly City, CA, USA 14th September 1982 STEREO SBD

The first appearance of the soundboard series of the “HIDE YOUR SHEEP Tour”, which has begun new excavations in 2026. The latest work will be released in two titles at the same time!

This work is the first part of a two-part simultaneous release. It is a stereo soundboard recording of the “Daily City performance (first day) on September 14, 1982.” At the beginning, I suddenly started saying “2026 too,” but in fact, for the past two years, the shock soundboard of the “HIDE YOUR SHEEP Tour” has been on fire. It has caused the biggest shock in the collector world. For those who will be riding that wave from now on, let’s first take a look at the position of this work from an overview of the activities at that time.

This is VAN HALEN in 1982/1983. Professional shots such as the 1983 “South America” and “US Festival” have long been known, but new discoveries are continuing in the 1982 edition before the new year. Excavations are progressing in the order of “North America # 3” → “North America # 1” → “North America # 2”, and this work’s Daily City performance is also part of “North America # 2”. Let’s focus on the schedule further here.

[A superb soundboard collection has been revived]
… and so it is. The release stopped once with the release of “LA FORUM 1982 3RD NIGHT SOUNDBOARD (Zodiac 803)” last fall. It was thought that this was the end, but now a new excavation rush has begun again.

The sound of this album is very similar to the previous soundboard series. It was recorded by a man named “Roy,” who was the engineer at the time, and was recorded entirely directly from the mixing desk. The technique of frequently stopping recording between songs to save tape, and the timing of these stops, are also in line with the previous series.

Anyone who has touched even one of the series has already made up their mind, but for those experiencing it for the first time, it’s like an “ultra-thick, ultra-realistic, other-dimensional soundboard.” It has absolutely no sense of order like an FM broadcast or an official live album, and it’s clearly a sound intended for on-site PA. Each sound comes out of the speaker with an incredibly sharp edge, and the balance is completely unthinkable for playback on home audio.

To be honest, it’s extremely rough, but that’s what makes it so good. The unedited, unprocessed live performance is super powerful, and the stereo panning is so intense it blows your brain from one end to the other. The extraordinary sense of synchronization, as if the instruments themselves are playing inside your brain, is a pleasure you can never experience on an official live album.

[“HIDE YOUR SHEEP Tour” striving towards the peak of their career]
And what is depicted with such a different dimension sound is the original VH that is running towards the peak, so it’s irresistible. The set is already familiar, but since it’s the first time in a long time that the series has resumed, let’s repost it once again.

●Diver Down (8 songs)
・The Full Bug/Little Guitars/Where Have All The Good Times Gone!/Hang ‘Em High/Cathedral/Secrets/Intruder/(Oh) Pretty Woman
●Others (11 songs)
・Flame of Fire: Runnin’ With The Devil/Jamie’s Cryin’/Ain’t Talkin’ Bout Love/You Really Got Me
・Legendary Bomber: Dance The Night Away/Somebody Get Me A Doctor/DOA/Bottoms Up!
・Others: Romeo Delight/Unchained/Everybody Wants Some!!

By common sense, even one in ten years is a lucky level of transcendental sound boards, and they are an endless succession of them. This is the latest in the new excavation series of the “HIDE YOUR SHEEP Tour,” which is the biggest abnormality in VAN HALEN history… No, in rock history. A miraculous collection that follows the tour evolving day by day with a sound board. Please enjoy the permanent preservation press 2CD to your heart’s content.

This is the first stereo soundboard recording of the “Daily City performance (first day)” on September 14, 1982. It was recorded directly from the mix desk by a man named “Roy,” who was the engineer at the time. While it’s a very rough recording, it offers a sense of synchronization that is so different from the original that it seems like the whole body is perfectly in sync with Van Halen. This is a new masterpiece that will usher in a renewed new discovery rush.
