《December 11th: Production of “Legendary Bomber” begins》
This is VAN HALEN in 1978, which brought a revolutionary wave to the whole world. The British trilogy, led by the early “WICHITA 1978 (Zodiac 303)” and “DEFINITIVE HAMMERSMITH 1978 (Zodiac 296)”, has been loved, but this work is the final performance of “North America # 3” which returned to the home country after those.
What came out of the show, where even audience recordings had not been known until now, was a shocking sound board. It was not a broadcast type, but a completely direct mix table system, and the performance sound for the on-site PA came out of the speaker unprocessed/unedited. The rawness of the sound was so intense that even the vibration of a single string or the skin of the drums was transmitted to the skin.
Moreover, this work is also the highest peak. The original sound that appeared on the net was recorded with a slightly muffled feeling, but this work is clear and vivid. Each range was adjusted after band analysis, and the outline was sharpened and the cut was improved. Of course, it would be pointless to distort the precious record by making too much sound pressure, but there is no need to worry about this work. While attacking the very edge of distortion, it brings out the taste of the sound board to the maximum.
Such an impact sound board depicts the live performance on the final day that the whole world knows for the first time. It seems that it was recorded only on the A side of the 90-minute tape, so I don’t know until the encore, but in the first place, this day is a short set because it is the opening act of BLACK SABBATH. Of the four sound board works mentioned above, it is the second longest after “DEFINITIVE HAMMERSMITH 1978”. Let’s check the contents of the set here.

*Note: Songs marked with “★” are also not included in the soundboard masterpiece “WICHITA 1978”.

…And so it is. All songs are selected from “The Fuse of Flame” and there are no “Legendary Bomber” numbers. Instead (?) “Jamie’s Cryin'”, which was not included in “WICHITA 1978” or the British Soundboard Trilogy, is also shown. Combined with the band’s potential only in 1978, it is also the one that is closest to the “live version of The Fuse of Flame”.
The debut of VAN HALEN was one of the biggest revolutions in the long history of rock. This is a shocking soundboard album that will imprint its final destination in your brain. A shocking cultural heritage that has transcended 47 years of time and space. Experience it to the fullest with this work that has been polished to the highest peak sound!
★The first stereo soundboard recording of the “San Diego performance on December 3, 1978”. This is the highest peak version, meticulously mastered with the shock master that was released very recently. It is completely directly connected to the mix desk, and the performance sound for the on-site PA comes out of the speakers as it is. This is the closest to the “live version of the fuse of the flame”, which also features “Jamie’s Cryin'”, which is not included in the conventional “WICHITA 1978” or the British soundboard trilogy.
