Rockford MetroCentre, Rockford, IL, USA 3 August 1982 STEREO SBD
The shock never stops! A completely unreleased soundboard from the “DIVER DOWN” era that has shocked the whole world is being unearthed in a new excavation series. The latest edition will be released this week with two titles at the same time!
The hybrid duo was unearthed from an unknown show where no audience recordings had ever been found. This work is a stereo soundboard recording of the first part, “August 3, 1982 Rockford Performance.” As anyone who has read this article knows, the powerful 1982 soundboard is currently being released at a furious pace. Just the soundboard from Dave’s time is dizzying, but all of them are first-time sound sources that no one has ever heard before, and without exception, they are incredibly high-quality.
With such a release rush, the position of the show is particularly important. First of all, as always, let’s take a bird’s-eye view of the activities at that time and check the positional relationship of the collection.

…And so it goes like this. The Rockford performance of this work was the next concert after “FORT WAYNE 1982 SOUNDBOARD (Zodiac 780)”, which is said to be the masterpiece (at the moment).
Although this work is like that, it is actually said to be “second only to FORT WAYNE 1982” not only in terms of position but also in terms of content. The biggest factor is the recording time.
The man who recorded the soundboards, “Roy,” usually uses 90-minute tapes, but there were only three shows recorded on 60-minute tapes. These were three consecutive performances: “LOUISVILLE 1982 SOUNDBOARD (Zodiac 781),” “FORT WAYNE 1982 SOUNDBOARD,” and this one. Of these, “LOUISVILLE 1982” was quite short, using a single 60-minute tape, while “FORT WAYNE 1982” and this one were two 60-minute tapes. Thanks to this, while the other soundboards are roughly 94 minutes long, this one is a whopping 105 minutes and 18 seconds long. Let’s take a look at the number of songs that make the most of this length.
●Diver Down (8 songs)
・The Full Bug/Little Guitars/Where Have All The Good Times Gone!/Hang ‘Em High/Cathedral/Secrets/Intruder/(Oh) Pretty Woman
●Other (11 songs)
・Fuse of Fire: Runnin’ With The Devil/Jamie’s Cryin’/Ice Cream Man (★)/You Really Got Me (incl. Happy Trails)
・Legendary Bomber: Dance The Night Away/Somebody Get Me A Doctor/DOA (★★)/Bottoms Up!
・Other: Romeo Delight/Unchained/Everybody Wants Some!!
*Note: Songs marked with “★” are not available on the sister album “TORONTO 1982: SOUNDBOARD”. In particular, songs marked with “★★” are not available on the sister album “BILOXI 1982: SOUNDBOARD”.

Compared to “FORT WAYNE 1982,” “Ain’t Talkin’ Bout Love” is missing, but “You Really Got Me” is a highlight that isn’t listed in the tracklist. The intro features “Growth,” a hidden track from “WOMEN AND CHILDREN FIRST.” This short song also served as the intro to “Bottoms Up!” in the latter half of the tour, but it was actually premiered on this day. Since there had been no audience recordings until now, this is a historical fact that has only just been revealed through this work.
In terms of performance, Eddie’s riffs are unsteady, unusual for him, and Dave makes a mistake on the synth on “Intruder,” but that’s also interesting. Above all, it’s an extremely thick soundboard album that meticulously imprints even the smallest of quirks into your brain. While it doesn’t quite surpass the masterpiece that “FORT WAYNE 1982” boasts, it’s a masterpiece that takes second place in this series of masterpieces. Please enjoy the 2CD press, which will never lose its luster.
★The first appearance of the stereo soundboard recording of the “August 3, 1982 Rockford Performance.” This is the latest in the popular soundboard excavation series, a masterpiece digitized from the original leaked master by the same people involved. This is the second longest recording after the masterpiece “FORT WAYNE 1982 SOUNDBOARD (Zodiac 780),” and its superb quality is unmatched. The premiere of “Growth,” which is shown in the intro to “You Really Got Me,” is also a historic soundboard album.
