Description

War Memorial Coliseum, Fort Wayne, IN, USA 31st July 1982 STEREO SBD
The shock of the whole world is back! A completely unreleased soundboard from the “DIVER DOWN” era has been newly discovered! Two titles will be released simultaneously on a press 2CD that permanently preserves the original master sound!
This work is the second part of a two-part series. It is a stereo soundboard recording of the “July 31, 1982 Fort Wayne Performance.” Speaking of 1982, the newly discovered soundboard triptych “Worcester 1982 1st Night Soundboard (Zodiac 700),” “3rd Night Soundboard (Zodiac 701),” and “Toronto 1982 Soundboard (Zodiac 702)” are still fresh in our memories. This week, “Biloxi 1982 Soundboard (Zodiac 775)” was also released. While all are sister works unearthed through the same route, their show positions and content differ. To explain this, let’s first take a bird’s-eye view of their activities at the time and confirm their respective positions.
●1982
{“DIVER DOWN” released on April 14th}
・July 14th – August 21st: North America #1 (26 shows) ←★Here★
・September 1st – 25th: North America #2 (17 shows)
・October 7th – December 11th: North America #3 (38 shows) ←TORONTO 1982, etc.
●1983
・January 16th – February 12th: South America (15 shows) ←※CARACAS 1983, etc.
・May 29th: US festival appearance
This is the overall picture of the “HIDE YOUR SHEEP Tour” accompanying “DIVER DOWN.” 1982 was the regular US tour, while 1983 consisted of special editions such as South America and US festivals. The previous trilogy, “WORCESTER 1982 1ST NIGHT,” “3RD NIGHT,” and “TORONTO 1982,” were all “North America #3” at the end of the former, but this two-part series was “North America #1” at the beginning of the tour. Let’s focus on the dates further.
● Details of “North America # 1”
・July 14th-23rd (7 performances)
*July 24th “BILOXI 1982”
・July 27th-30th (3 performances)
*July 31st: Fort Wayne performance ←★This work★
・August 3rd-21st (14 performances)
It was a close show, four shows after “BILOXI 1982” (one week later), but this slight difference was significant. Since it was the early days of the tour, the set was repeatedly trial and error, and it changed considerably between these two works. So, let’s organize the set by comparing it with the representative of the previous trilogy, “TORONTO 1982,” and its sister work, “BILOXI 1982.”
●Diver Down (8 songs)
・The Full Bug/Little Guitars/Where Have All The Good Times Gone!/Hang ‘Em High/Cathedral/Secrets/Intruder/(Oh) Pretty Woman
●Other (12 songs)
・Flame of Fire: Runnin’ With The Devil/Jamie’s Cryin’/Ice Cream Man (★)/Ain’t Talkin’ Bout Love/You Really Got Me (incl. Happy Trails)
・Legendary Bomber: Dance The Night Away/Somebody Get Me A Doctor/DOA (★★)/Bottoms Up!
・Other: Romeo Delight/Unchained/Everybody Wants Some!!
*Note: Songs marked with “★” are not available on the sister album “TORONTO 1982: SOUNDBOARD.” In particular, songs marked with “★★” are not available on the sister album “BILOXI 1982: SOUNDBOARD.”
…And that’s how it goes. The track selection and order are based on the same foundation as “TORONTO 1982.” All the songs heard on that classic album are included in this work. On top of that, “Ice Cream Man” and “DOA” have been added. The total length exceeds 109 minutes. One of the reasons for this longest run is the recording tape. It seems that all of the series were recorded by the same person, “Roy,” and on this day, two 60-minute tapes were used. While there were some missed tracks during tape changes, this is longer than his other works and has far fewer cuts.
Of course, the sound is of the highest quality, rivaling other works. It has been digitized directly from the master recorded directly from the mix desk, with no dubbing marks. Because it is directly connected to the desk, there is almost no difference between venues, and there is plenty of other-dimensional synchronization that seems to climb into your brain with shoes on. The quality is uncompromising, and the length and seamless recording situation are overwhelming. In other words, this work is the longest and best masterpiece in the newly excavated soundboard series.
The previous trilogy was intense, but this two-part series is even more amazing. It’s amazing! The powerful soundboard remains powerful, and the weight of the extremely rare songs makes the “BILOXI 1982 SOUNDBOARD” dizzying. This work pushes forward with the longest time and perfection of the set. Both are must-listen, must-have historic new masterpieces. Experience the impact of the excavation to the fullest with the press 2CD, which will forever remain.

★ Stereo soundboard recording of the “July 31, 1982 Fort Wayne Performance.” This is a newly excavated soundboard that came out of a show that didn’t even have an audience, and is a masterpiece that was directly digitized from the original master recorded by the people involved. It is the longest-running masterpiece in the same soundboard series.
