Selland Arena, Fresno, CA, USA 25th March 1979 ULTIMATE SOUND (from Original Masters)

Following their shocking debut tour, they swept the world as headliners on the “WORLD VACATION Tour”. The master tape of the legendary recording, renowned as their masterpiece, has been unexpectedly unearthed! It has been decided that the ultimate sound will be released on a press CD for future generations!

The work that has been permanently preserved in this work is the “March 25, 1979 Fresno performance”. It is the superb audience recording. This recording is a legend in itself. It boasts a completely soundboard-class sound that can be likened to an official work, and the show itself is a super rare set called the “legendary live performance bomber”. It is a classic that has been loved for a long time and widely because of its tremendous content, but this work is finally unearthed by the original master.
If you have already experienced some kind of pre-release, you may have already decided your mind, but for those who have not, let me explain from the beginning. First of all, from the position of the show …

[The legendary recording master has made a new discovery]

This is VAN HALEN in 1979. For reference, the masterpieces of each leg are also listed, but the Fresno performance of this work is earlier than any of them. It was the first day of the “WORLD VACATION Tour” rather than “North America #1”.
Such a show is famous for having left behind super-famous recordings. As mentioned at the beginning, it was a complete soundboard-class masterpiece that made the brain bug out, asking, “Where is the audience in this!?” However, even in the previous edition “Shades 474,” which was the highest peak to date, the 1st generation. This work is a newly excavated master brought about by our own unique route, which is different from that, and is the origin that broke through the conventional limits.
In fact, it includes parts that were not previously released, such as “Feel Your Love Tonight” and the inter-songs after “Ice Cream Man”, and is recorded for about 1 minute 20 seconds longer overall. However, that is just the original evidence. The important thing is that the sound that runs through the whole thing has also been upgraded. It was originally a sound that could be likened to an official work, so there was no problem, but it’s surprising that it’s really up by comparison.
The biggest difference is the hiss and the natural feeling. Now that I know the new master, when I listen to it again, I noticed that the previous master had high-pitched hiss. It wasn’t a particularly harsh noise, so I didn’t think it was a flaw, but in fact the hiss made the performance sound itself sound sharp and the vocals sounded sharp. However, this time there is almost no such thing. The performance sound roars naturally, and the vocals are smooth. Until now, it was thought that “this is the sound that was heard on site,” but the original master retained an even more beautiful “true on-site sound.”
[The only live performance of the legendary bomber in the entire history of VH]
Such a master sound is depicted as a full show that has been called the “legendary live performance bomber”. In order to explain its meaning, let’s organize the set contents here.
●Flame of Fire (6 songs)
– Runnin’ With The Devil/On Fire/Feel Your Love Tonight/Ice Cream Man/Ain’t Talkin’ ‘Bout Love/You Really Got Me
●Legendary Bomber (8 songs + α)
– Light Up The Sky (★)/Somebody Get Me A Doctor/Dance The Night Away (★)/Beautiful Girls (★)/You’re No Good (★)/Outta Love Again (★)/Spanish Fly/DOA/Bottoms Up!
*Note: Songs marked with ‘★’ are either world premieres or the oldest live performances.
…And so it is. There are plenty of premieres on the first day of the tour, but the key point is the selection. All songs except “Women in Love…..” from “Legendary Bomber” are being played (the guitar solo was also based on “Spanish Fly” rather than “Eruption”).
Although it seems to be full of standard songs, in fact, “9 out of 10 songs from the 2nd album” were only performed once on this day. In detail, the key point is that the three songs “DOA”, “You’re No Good” and “Outta Love Again” are all there. “DOA” has been performed since 1978, but only once on the first day (this work) in 1979. On the other hand, “You’re No Good” and “Outta Love Again” are rare songs from the “Legendary Bomber” era, and “You’re No Good” in particular is a limited song that was only performed in 1979 (by the way, “Women in Love….”, which cannot be heard in this work, premiered in 1980, so the entire 2nd album was not performed).
The original master of the famous recording, which was the “legend of the early VAN HALEN collection”, was unearthed. The conventional master is not a completely different thing because it is superb, but this work is definitely at the “extreme”. A true cultural heritage album that must be passed down forever. Please enjoy it anytime and forever with a press CD that will not lose its shine.
★Superb audience recording of “March 25, 1979 Fresno performance”. A legendary recording that can be likened to an official work, and a newly excavated master master. There is less high-pitched hiss than the conventional version, which improves the natural feeling of the performance sound and vocals. It is the only live performance in history where nine songs are played from “Legendary Bomber”, and it is a true cultural heritage album that allows you to enjoy the full show called “the second album of live performance” with the highest peak renewal sound.
