ASU Sun Devil Stadium, Tempe, AZ, USA 19th & 20th December 1987 PRO-SHOT
EMERGENCY ALERT!!! A major incident has occurred that will shock the collector world!
This time, the superb professional shots taken at the glorious “THE JOSHUA TREE Tour” have unexpectedly leaked! This incredible footage, which has been deleted at this very moment, is being urgently released!
This work was shot at the “December 19th/20th, 1987 Tempe Performance.” It is a multi-camera pro shot. What is shocking about this work is its quality. The visual beauty of the footage shot on 35mm film is not just completely official… it’s enough to be projected onto the big screen of a theater.
Before we get into that, let’s start with the show’s position. When you think of “Tempe in 1987,” the live album press masterpiece “TEMPE 1987: JOSHUA TREE OPENING NIGHT (Uxbridge 2403)” comes to mind, but this work is a little different. To avoid any misunderstandings, let’s start by looking back at the activities at the time.

[A long pro shot of “THE JOSHUA TREE Tour” that suddenly appeared]

This is the overall picture of the historic “THE JOSHUA TREE Tour 1987.” “TEMPE 1987: JOSHUA TREE OPENING NIGHT” was, as its name suggests, a live album from the first day of the tour, but this work is the exact opposite. “North America # 3” was also the final two performances of the tour.
These two performances have long been known to have been professionally filmed, and five songs were also used in the official video “RATTLE AND HUM” (“With or Without You” on December 19th and “Where the Streets Have No Name,” “MLK,” “Bullet the Blue Sky,” and “Running to Stand Still” on the 20th). What has been leaked this time is a longer version of that official video. It’s a full-scale live pro shot of about 1 hour and 54 minutes and 22 songs in total! Of course, there are also heaps of great songs that weren’t even seen in the official “RATTLE AND HUM” video.
Let’s organize it here by comparing.
● Joshua Tree (10 songs)
– Where The Streets Have No Name (★) / Trip Through Your Wires (★) / I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For / One Tree Hill (★) / Exit / In God’s Country / Bullet The Blue Sky / Running To Stand Still / With Or Without You / Mothers of the Disappeared (★)
● Others (12 songs)
– WAR: Sunday Bloody Sunday / New Year’s Day (★) / “40” (★)
– ?: MLK / Bad / Pride (In The Name Of Love)
– Others: I Will Follow (★) / Out Of Control (★: first day) / Helter Skelter (second day) / Help! (★: second day) / People Get Ready (★) / Christmas (Baby, Please Come Home) (★: second day)
*Note: Songs marked with “★” are not included in the video version of “RATTLE AND HUM.”
…And that’s how it goes. The new master was produced over two days, “December 19th/20th,” and it’s unclear which songs belong to which day. However, it includes all of the previously unreleased tracks, “Out Of Control,” “Helter Skelter,” “Help!”, and “Christmas (Baby, Please Come Home),” with only one song missing, “Gloria.” It’s actually longer than the complete version of one album.

[Beautiful 35mm film footage suitable for theatrical release]

The sheer volume of the songs alone is enough to make a name for itself, but even this is merely a prelude. The true power of the film is the stunningly beautiful visual quality that permeates the first half! The time counter is a vivid master edit, but the image quality, digitized directly from 35mm film, is incredibly beautiful. 35mm is the standard format for theatrical films, and this film is the visual beauty of a Hollywood blockbuster.
Moreover, the editing is incredibly well done. Each cut is captured with a beautiful composition, and even when stopped, the colors exude elegance. The switching is dynamic, and it could be shown in theaters as is. Even the five songs that overlap with the official “RATTLE AND HUM” are shot from different angles, making them completely different versions.

[Modern treasures that are being deleted by the official side]

This new master is quite shocking, but the circumstances surrounding its discovery are even more shocking. It was uploaded to a video site somewhere on the Internet, and was only supposed to be viewable by people who knew the URL. However, the person who uploaded it made a mistake in the settings and uploaded it in public mode.
Of course, the people involved immediately deleted the video when they noticed the mistake, but it was too late. It had been downloaded by a discerning enthusiast. After that, the official side deleted, deleted, deleted, deleted, deleted, deleted all the footage that had been re-uploaded to various places on the Internet. Thanks to that (?), it seems that it is difficult to watch now, but this work has been made into a DVD from the best master that was secured before that.
If you’re also a fan of Queen, I’d like you to remember the official video “QUEEN ROCK MONTREAL.” “Two-day mix edit / 35mm film visual beauty / theater-ready perfection”… This work is truly the U2 version of “QUEEN ROCK MONTREAL.” With such quality, you can enjoy the renowned “THE JOSHUA TREE Tour.” Is there ever another such shock? It’s an absolute video that’s difficult to watch, as the official site has been desperately deleting it. Please enjoy this best-mastered work to the fullest!
★Multi-camera pro shot of the “December 19th/20th, 1987 Tempe performance.” This is a long version of the show, also used in the official video “RATTLE AND HUM,” and it’s a leaked master that suddenly appeared very recently. While the time counter is still in the editing stage, the visual beauty of the footage created from 35mm film is at a theatrical release level that exceeds the official level. This is an absolute shocking video that allows you to enjoy THE JOSHUA TREE Tour on a full scale.
