Description
Morumbi, Sao Paulo, Brazil 19th October 2017
In 2017, U2 thrilled the world with a tour recreating the classic album “JOSHUA TREE” to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the album. Now, the Matrix album is here, letting you experience the live performance of “JOSHUA TREE” in your brain.
This work was recorded at the “October 19, 2017 Sao Paulo Performance.” It is a matrix sound source of the IEM + superb audience. The “JOSHUA TREE Tour” continued until 2019, and it is also memorable for the fact that it was performed in Japan. However, there were some irregularities, such as the “EXPERIENCE + INNOCENCE Tour” being mixed in along the way. First, let’s take a look at the overview of the activities at that time and approach the position of this work.

[The latest Matrix album featuring the finest IEMs]
This is U2 from 2017 to 2019. The highlight of the “South America” leg was four consecutive performances in Sao Paulo, and this work was the first day of that. Our shop also has a similarly titled “SAO PAULO 2017 FINAL NIGHT (Uxbridge 771),” but this work is six days before that (three performances before).
This work, which conveys such a show, is a new masterpiece that boasts a fiercely direct feeling. Although it is a matrix with audience recording, the leading role is clearly the IEM sound source, and the feeling of blowing out the performance sound and vocals as they are is completely a direct-to-table sound board. To be honest, although the person who made it public says “It’s a matrix,” just listening to it doesn’t really make sense of the audience element.
On the other hand, it’s a bit different from FM broadcasts and official sounds. The vocals are well-balanced, and counting voices are recorded at the beginning of each song (there are no clicks). Therefore, it can’t be advertised as “fully official,” but on the other hand, the vividness and other-dimensional synchronization that are impossible with official products are tremendous. The crisp stability that is unusual for an IEM is also wonderful, and for soundboard enthusiasts who have been listening to it for a long time, it may sound even better than a regular official live album.
[A full live album that pours a famous live performance into your brain]
Such a genuine, super-direct sound is depicted in a full show worthy of being called the “live performance version of JOSHUA TREE.” It’s been a while since we last reported on the “JOSHUA TREE Tour 2017/2019,” so let’s organize the set here.
●Opening (4 songs)
・WAR: Sunday Bloody Sunday / New Year’s Day
・Homura: Bad / Pride (In The Name Of Love)
●The Joshua Tree (11 songs in total)
・Where The Streets Have No Name / I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For / With Or Without You / Bullet The Blue Sky / Running To Stand Still / Red Hill Mining Town / In God’s Country / Trip Through Your Wires / One Tree Hill / Exit / Mothers Of The Disappeared
●Encore (6 songs)
・All That You Can’t Leave Behind: Beautiful Day / Elevation
・Other: Vertigo / You’re The Best Thing About Me
・Achtung Baby: Ultraviolet (Light My Way) / One
…And that’s how it went. The set began with a digest of the road to “JOSHUA TREE” with numbers from “WAR” and “THE UNFORGETTABLE FIRE,” followed by a complete rendition of the album. Then, for the encore, they switched gears and brought the set to a grand finale in their usual style, mixing in some recent songs. The “opening” and “encore” parts change depending on the show, and on this day they performed the rare song “You’re the Best Thing About Me,” making it similar to the second day of their Japan tour.
The “JOSHUA TREE Tour 2017/2019” celebrates the 30th anniversary of the masterpiece that has been applauded all over the world. This is a matrix album that will inject an album reproduction into your brain that was not even realized in 1987. Please enjoy the ultra-direct feeling that surpasses even the official work to your heart’s content.
★IEM + superb audience matrix sound source from the “October 19, 2017 Sao Paulo performance.” The IEM sound source clearly plays a leading role, with the raw sound of both the performance and vocals coming out completely like a direct-to-desktop soundboard. The vocals are well-balanced and brought forward, but the stability is amazing, unlike that of an IEM, and the vividness and other-dimensional sense of synchronization are incredible, something that is impossible to achieve with official products. This is a pleasure album that will pour the complete live reproduction of “JOSHUA TREE” into your brain.
