Description
San Diego Sports Arena, San Diego, CA, USA 14th April 1987 Truly Perfect Sound (from Original Masters)
U2’s “THE JOSHUA TREE” era saw them leap from one of the biggest hit bands of their generation to one of the greatest in rock history. Two superb live albums capturing that glorious moment will be released simultaneously.
This is the second part of a two-part series. It’s a superb audience recording of the “San Diego Performance on April 14, 1987.” This week’s two-part series are sister works, recorded at the same venue and on adjacent dates. And above all, it’s a live album close to the two historic pinnacle works, “COW PALACE 1987 2ND NIGHT (Wardour-678)” and “ROSEMONT 1987 (Wardour-637).” To understand the situation, let’s take a look at the position of this work from an overview of the activities at the time.

…And so it goes like this. It’s overwhelming that the two greatest masterpieces, “COW PALACE 1987 2ND NIGHT” and “ROSEMONT 1987,” which could be said to be the pinnacle of U2’s entire history, are all there, but this two-part series has been added on top of that. Moreover, it’s not just that they were released around the same time; these two series are also sequels to “COW PALACE 1987 2ND NIGHT” and “ROSEMONT 1987.” Both are masters provided by the same overseas researcher, and are masterpieces with the highest peak updated sound.
Of course, each of the four albums, including this one, has its own unique character. The strength of this album is its intense clarity. The atmosphere is crystal clear, and even the subtlest details are crystal clear. The drums and vocals are easy to hear, and the guitar, bass, and even the decorative sounds of the synths all stand out clearly, boasting a crisp, tight feel.
Moreover, the core is on, powerful, and the direct feeling is amazing. There are some beautiful aspects unique to an audience, such as the loud cheers at the height of popularity and the spectacle of detailed, spreading chants, but if you just pick up the sound of the performance, it almost sounds like an IEM recording. Calling it a “natural matrix sound” is a contradiction in terms, but the combination of naturalness and clarity is just what it feels like.
Such a super clear sound of another dimension is depicted as a full show that is similar to the sister work “SAN DIEGO 1987 1ST NIGHT (Wardour-679)”. Let’s organize the set by comparing it here.

The position of “Gloria” has changed from the previous day’s “1ST NIGHT (Wardour-679),” but even more significant is the encore ending. While the previous day’s performance was the classic “40,” this work has switched to the rare song “Mothers of the Disappeared” from “THE JOSHUA TREE.” Moreover, this day marks the world premiere. You can enjoy a unique live performance with superb sound. Even more special is Bob Dylan’s cover “I Shall Be Released.” The song itself is rare, but on this day Maria McKee of LONE JUSTICE, who was also the opening act, participated as a guest. It’s a beautiful duet.
The dynamic “1ST NIGHT” and the brilliant clarity of this work. While both have distinct personalities, these are superb live albums that rival the two greatest peaks, “COW PALACE 1987 2ND NIGHT” and “ROSEMONT 1987.” This is a new masterpiece that allows you to fully experience the culmination of rock history, and is the highest peak update master known only to researchers who have pursued U2 for many years. Please enjoy this Press 2CD, which will pass on the beautiful sound to future generations, anytime, anywhere.
★A superb audience recording of the “San Diego performance on April 14, 1987.” This new masterpiece, mastered through the same unique route as the two greatest albums, “COW PALACE 1987 2ND NIGHT” and “ROSEMONT 1987,” is a new masterpiece that approaches the stage. The crystal-clear clarity is overwhelming, with even the most subtle nuances superbly defined. The contours of each and every detail, even the finest ornaments, are clearly defined, boasting a tight, crisp feel. Moreover, the core is powerful and direct. The world premiere of “Mothers of the Disappeared” and “I Shall Be Released,” featuring guest appearances by Maria McKee, are also must-listen delicacies.
