Roundhay Park, Leeds, England 28th August 1997 STEREO SBD
★UPGRADE!!!
The “PopMart Tour” stunned the world with its new sound and huge spectacle. Here comes a soundboard album that will send that live performance right into your brain.
This work was recorded at the Leeds performance on August 28, 1997. It is a stereo soundboard recording. Speaking of the “PopMart Tour,” the official video “POPMART: LIVE FROM MEXICO CITY” reigns supreme, and our store’s press masterpiece “DEFINITIVE SARAJEVO 1997: 2025 REMASTER & REMIX (Wardour-655)” is also fresh in our memory. First, let’s take a bird’s-eye view of the activities at that time and check their respective positions.

This is U2 in 1997/1998. The Leeds performance of this work is the 19th performance of the “European” leg, about half a year after the album was released. The aforementioned “DEFINITIVE SARAJEVO 1997” was also in the same “Europe”, but it was a concert about a month before that.
This show is also known for its FM broadcast, making it one of the classics that has spawned numerous pre-releases. This release is also a masterpiece, released on the same FM broadcast soundboard, but released on CD from the best master. The sound is also a radio album with a ’90s vibe emanating from the speakers. While it’s not quite up to par with the official “LIVE FROM MEXICO CITY,” it’s not inferior either. The opening French DJ performance sounds a bit cheap, but once the show begins, everything changes. A vintage dance beat resonates powerfully, and the four-piece band sound penetrates right through it. You’ll instantly feel like you’ve been transported back in time, as if your room has been warped 28 years in the past.
The FM sound of that era is depicted as a full show that is similar to the official “LIVE FROM MEXICO CITY” due to the difference in timing. Let’s compare and organize it here.
●Pop (8 songs)

…And that’s how it goes. All three songs that can’t be heard on the official “LIVE FROM MEXICO CITY” are valuable, “Miami” is a limited edition song from 1997, and the Beatles’ “Rain” has only been played a handful of times. It was raining on the day, so the standard “Singing in the Rain” was also sung, but this wasn’t just for fun, the tape was played solidly as backing, and a huge chorus competition with the audience took place. This work allows you to enjoy many of these precious scenes on a stereo soundboard.
With French narration between songs, it feels like it’s just one step away from being a permanent preservation press, but the quality is so high that it’s too precious to miss. This is a masterpiece of a soundboard album. U2’s 1997 was unlike any other era. Be sure to enjoy this best-mastered album to the fullest.
This stereo soundboard recording from the August 28, 1997 Leeds concert features a French DJ playing between songs on an FM soundboard, and the sound, released on CD from the best masters, is superb. This two-disc set also includes repertoire not available on the official “LIVE FROM MEXICO CITY” or the classic press album “DEFINITIVE SARAJEVO 1997,” including the “PopMart Tour” exclusive “Miami” and the extremely rare covers “Rain” and “Singing in the Rain.”
