★UPGRADE
The 1997 Sarajevo evening is remembered as the ultimate concert in the history of U2, just like DEEP PURPLE’s 1974 California Jam, QUEEN’s 1986 Wembley, and THE WHO’s 1970 Leeds. The soundboard album that tells the whole story has been upgraded to a different dimension with the latest technology! The latest work, which is the ultimate in the “REMASTER & REMIX” project, which has produced a series of shocking works, is now available.
[The most iconic concert in U2’s history]
The ultimate concert was the “September 23, 1997 Sarajevo Performance”. This is a superb stereo soundboard recording. There may be no show more worthy of being called “iconic” than this concert. U2 is known as a politically conscious band, and the Sarajevo performance was the pinnacle of that. During the Bosnian conflict, the “ZOO TV Tour” also broadcast satellite broadcasts with Bosnians to the world, but the war ended in November 1995. While they released “Miss Sarajevo” in collaboration with Brian Eno, they also began to explore the possibility of a local live performance, and finally realized it in the middle of the “PopMart Tour” one year and nine months later.
Of course, they faced many difficulties along the way, but they overcame them with extraordinary passion and hard work. The story was released last year as a documentary film, “Kiss the Future,” and attracted a lot of attention. And that passion was even present in the performance itself, resulting in a historic, passionate performance. Just like DEEP PURPLE’s 1974 California Jam performance, QUEEN’s 1986 Wembley performance, and THE WHO’s 1970 Leeds performance, it was the ultimate concert that symbolized the band itself.
[A miraculous live album worthy of a miraculous show]
However, even though the concert itself was the ultimate, the story was different when it came to live albums. The above three groups left official masterpieces, but U2’s Sarajevo performance was not made into an official work, and only a small part of it was shown in the aforementioned movie “Kiss the Future”. There was no music work worthy of the miraculous masterpiece.
28 years have passed since that evening in Sarajevo. Finally, a frustrating history has come to an end. A full live album that everyone desires and that must be engraved in music history. That is what this work is. Its true identity is the ultimate finished album, remastered and remixed with the latest AI technology from various existing high-quality soundboard masters, meticulously polished and reassembled. Of course, even though it is called AI technology, it is not generated AI, but is assembled with 100% live performances by U2.
In the first place, the Sarajevo performance attracted worldwide attention, and was broadcast on BBC, Westwood One, etc. A large number of ultra-high quality soundboards were already available at that time. However, even though they were high quality, they were not high quality. Not only were they unstable due to the broadcast, but each record also had different drawbacks. Some records had scattered noises like sound distortion, while others had sound dents. The legendary already-released “DISCONNECT” was famous for being noiseless, but still, for some reason, only the first six songs had a cut at 10 kHz and the sound did not grow… This work is a collection of the advantages of various soundboards with their own pros and cons, and all the disadvantages were eliminated.
[The latest AI mastering that turns miracles into reality]
Please do not misunderstand that this work is not a patchwork Frankenstein. When you patch it up like traditional mastering, it becomes messy due to differences in tone and balance, but this work uses AI technology to break down each instrument into tracks (vocals + guitar + bass + drums x 4 tracks = 7 tracks in total). By remixing each instrument after arranging them like an official work, it is possible to create a completely seamless and unified live album.
This mix decomposition is also effective in noise processing. Just like instruments, noise components can be separated into tracks, so they can be removed cleanly without affecting the performance sound at all. Moreover, the remix was properly based on the official sense. The ensemble’s guide was the official video work “LIVE FROM MEXICO CITY”. The FM broadcast of the Sarajevo performance at the time had a somewhat rough mix, with the drums recessed and the guitar covered in excessive reverb, but this work realizes the band’s original direct sound that eliminates these two shortcomings. It is exactly the same feeling as “LIVE FROM MEXICO CITY” that recreates the legendary night in Sarajevo.
Although the feeling is similar, the show content is very different from “LIVE FROM MEXICO CITY”. Finally, let’s organize the set by comparing them.
