Released on Rockin’ Bear Records, this unofficial LP retrieves from a vintage radio broadcast one of the concerts from the tour promoting the album “Mule Variations,” during which Tom Waits (vocals, piano, guitar, and megaphone) was accompanied by Smokey Hormel (guitar, banjo, and mandolin), Larry Taylor (bass and guitar), Danny McGough (keyboards), and Andrew Borger (drums and percussion). The disc reproduces a selection of the show: ten songs, four of which are from the new album, while the rest draw from albums such as “Black Rider,” “Rain Dogs,” “Swordfishtrombones,” and the older “The Heart of Saturday Night,” whose classic title track closes the set.
