Covering thirty years of Tina Turner’s life and career, documenting her transition from the fiery R&B of her early days to the refined pop-soul of her maturity, this unofficial four-CD box set, released by Expensive Woodland Recordings and compiled from out-of-copyright radio and television recordings, spans thirty years. Disc one features solo and duo tracks with Ike Turner from television programs of the 1960s and ’70s, with a setlist that includes the hit “Nutbush City Limits” and the Beatles’ “Come Together.” Disc two features tracks from the 1975-1982 NBC TV broadcast period (including Sly & the Family Stone’s “I Wanna Take You Higher” and Bobby Womack’s “It’s All Over Now”). The third and fourth, finally, reproduce a 1993 show broadcast on KRFG FM in Nashwauk, Minnesota, after the great artistic renaissance of the mid-’80s with hits such as “Steamy Windows”, “Typical Male”, “Private Dancer”, “We Don’t Need Another Hero”, “I Can’t Stand The Rain” by Ann Peebles, “Let’s Stay Together” by Al Green, “Proud Mary” by Creedence Clearwater Revival and another version of “Nutbush City Limits”.
