A shocking first appearance of this sound source. The sound quality, sound image, and content are surprisingly easy to listen to.
The Bournemouth performances in August 1963 and Walthamstow performances in May have already been a hot topic among enthusiasts around the world as the first excavated sound sources of the Beatles’ early live performances in a long time. Both performances have already been announced for press CD release, which has also been a big topic, but since the release has already been decided, enthusiasts have released the original sound sources of each performance on the Internet.
Furthermore, since it was released on YouTube, many enthusiasts may have already heard it. This newly released, super-popular sound source will be released on CD-R at the earliest possible date.
But it’s not just a simple CD-R. First, Bournemouth thoroughly removed the crackling noise caused by tape deterioration. They also carefully removed the gaps between songs that were likely mixed in when the album was uploaded. They didn’t touch the cuts that were likely where the recorder was stopped during the original recording, but they did remove the parts that were clearly problems with the upload.
In addition, the hiss noise, which seems to be caused by tape deterioration, has also been alleviated. In particular, the noise that bothered me in quiet performances such as “A Taste Of Honey” has been suppressed, making it even easier to hear.
In addition, the pitch of Walthamstow is 5% higher, which would otherwise sound extremely unnatural, but the problem has been fixed. Although it is a speedy release on CD-R, there is nothing missing.
Moreover, both live performances are surprisingly easy to listen to for audience recordings from 1963. For the Beatles, the release of a live recording never before heard, no matter what era, would be a historic discovery, and would be appreciated even if the sound quality was poor.
However, the recordings from May and August 1963 were fortunately live performances before the screams of the fans, so the sound source, which is already surprisingly easy to listen to for the 1963 audience, has been made easier to listen to through these adjustments.
If that happens, the popping noise in Bournemouth and the high pitch problem in Walthamstow will definitely have to be adjusted. However, I don’t know if the upcoming press releases will address this issue, and this CD-R is not just the fastest release, but also easy to listen to.
Not only have the Beatles’ precious live recordings been unearthed, but the setlists for each live performance are also very attractive. That’s why I was pleasantly surprised by the surprisingly easy-to-listen-to quality.
Of course, I think that many enthusiasts are waiting for the press CD release, but for those who want to hear this precious newly excavated 63rd year live as soon as possible!
