Description
The first appearance of a treasured master recording the January 24th live performance, the third day of the four-day CBGB performance in January 1976, with a good monaural audience recording!
This rare recording, a high-quality mono audience recording of the January 24th concert, the third day of a four-day series with Talking Heads at CBGB in New York from January 22nd to 25th, 1976, is now available for the first time!
Digitally , the mono sound is stable, the vocals are clear and loud, and each part is well-balanced, resulting in reasonably good sound quality for the time
. While the final day of the four-day CBGB concert was previously available on the same label’s previously released “LET ME OUT (TOTH2322),” the third day has finally been unearthed! The performance was split into two sets. The second half of the first set’s final track, “Torn Curtain,” the first half of the second set’s opening track, and
the second are missing. The tape was stopped between each song, likely to conserve tape, but otherwise the recording is flawless. The setlist included numbers from their first album, “MARQUEE MOON,” released the following year, as well as the single “Little
Johnny Jewel,” a cover of the 13th Floor Elevators’ “Fire Engine,” and a vocal version of “O Mi Amore,” an instrumental version of which was unreleased at the time but later included as an extra track on the CD as “Untitled.” It also
included rare numbers “Let Me Out” and “Kingdom Come,” which were only ever performed live at the time. This setlist was unique to this period!
