STEVIE RAY VAUGHAN & JEFF BECK – TORNADO OF GUITARS (CD)
$29.95
IDS – CD
Description
On November 11, 1989, a “guitar tornado” hit New York’s Madison Square Garden. In other words, it was a concert from the “The Fire Meets the Fury” double-bill tour that featured Stevie Ray Vaughan and Jeff Beck. This unofficial CD on the IDS label features tracks from one of the many radio and television broadcasts of the time. The first 11 tracks on the set document almost the entire set by the Englishman (with Terry Bozzio on drums and Tony Hymas on keyboards), which focused on the album “Jeff Beck’s Guitar Shop” and included a cover of The Impressions’ “People Get Ready.” the last five are instead recovered from the Texan’s show with Double Trouble (Tommy Shannon on bass, Chris “Whipper” Layton on drums and Reese Wynans on keyboards), and include versions of songs by Hank Ballard and the Midnighters (“Look At Little Sister”) and Buddy Guy (“Mary Had A Little Lamb”, “Let Me Love You Baby”)
