Description

On April 21, 1984, two months after the release of their debut album, the Smiths performed at De Meervaart Hall in Amsterdam in a concert that was filmed and broadcast by a local radio station, bootlegged several times, and now reissued on CD by Unicorn. The 16-track setlist contains six titles from that first album (including the singles “Hand In Glove” and “What Difference Does It Make?”) but also extends beyond that: the set also features other singles from the period (“This Charming Man,” “How Soon Is Now,” “Heaven Knows I’m Miserable Now”), B-sides (“Handsome Devil,” “Girl Afraid,” “These Things Take Time”), outtakes (“This Night Has Opened My Eyes”), and songs that would later appear on their two subsequent albums (“Meat Is Murder,” 1985, and “The Queen Is Dead,” 1986).
