Description
A rare recording of a Manchester performance in November 1982, featuring Robert Smith, is now available in excellent stereo audience recording quality!~
After John McGough left the band following their Madrid gig in October 1982 due to his alcohol problems, The Bangees welcomed Robert Smith, who would later form The Cure, as their guitarist. This rare recording captures
a live performance at the Apollo Theater in Manchester on November 22, 1982, from the “Kiss in the Dreamhouse Tour,” in excellent stereo audience recording quality! Digitally transferred from a low-generation master, it boasts a stable, clear, and excellent sound quality, with each part, including the vocals, recorded in good balance.
This was the second of two consecutive shows on the 21st and 22nd, and the setlist featured six songs from the album “Kiss in the Dreamhouse,” released shortly after the single, including the single “Slowdive.” It was a rare live performance from the time when Robert Smith was a member, as his participation was brief, and he only contributed to the 1984 album “Hyena” in the studio. Robert Smith had joined as a guitarist in a hurry after McGough’s departure, and had only been with the band for less than a month, but perhaps because he was also working with Steve Severin in The Grove at the same time, they delivered a very well-coordinated performance.
