SANTANA in 1974, who sent out the masterpiece “LOTUS” and showed the world the power of the strongest live band. A newly excavated soundboard album that can be said to be its sequel is now available.
This work includes a stereo soundboard recording of the “September 15, 1974 Fresno Performance.” It was a busy time, with not only “LOTUS” but also Carlos Santana’s solo albums, “GREATEST HITS,” “BORBOLETTA,” and more, all coming out in rapid succession. Even slight differences in timing meant different live performances. To better organize the situation at the time, let’s first take a look at the schedule and outline the band’s activities.

[Newly excavated soundboard that is the highest peak of the direct-connection system]
This is SANTANA from 1973/1974. 1974 can be roughly divided into “North America # 3” before the release of “BORBOLETTA” and “Japan # 2” after its release, and the Fresno performance of this work was the 27th performance of the former.

This work, recorded at such a show, is a newly excavated soundboard that is currently causing a sensation in the collector world. It was unearthed from the remains of a certain core collector, but what is shocking is the quality. In a word, it is “a top-class mix table direct connection system,” and the extremely powerful live performance blows out of the speakers completely unprocessed. The loud cheers between songs are recorded only in the distant ripples, so the sense of concert experience is almost zero, but instead, the other-dimensional sense of synchronization where the whole body is perfectly in sync with the live performance is amazing.
And because the live performance is led by SANTANA in their prime, it’s more than just incredible. Every note on each instrument stands out clearly, and the eight-piece band delivers a fierce performance in unison, but even when their notes overlap, they never blend together. The ensemble, which responds to and evolves in response to each other’s playing, is like a tapestry of sound. Rather than just listening to it, you feel immersed, as if your whole body is woven into it.
[A fierce live album that can be called a sequel to Lotus]
Such a transcendent soundboard unfolds, giving the band potential that is also common to the masterpiece “LOTUS,” but the set is a completely different show. Let’s organize the contents here.

…And that’s how it goes. The opening medley and the core “ABRAXAS” numbers are reminiscent of “LOTUS,” but the repertoire that comes in from the middle onwards is completely different. It also includes new songs from the upcoming release of “BORBOLETTA,” making it truly enjoyable as a “sequel to the traditional live album.”
This is a newly discovered, powerful live album that will blow your mind with a sound directly connected to the table, capturing the band’s potential, which is similar to that of that masterpiece. Who would have thought that such a soundboard had been sleeping undiscovered for half a century? This shocking new discovery will leave you in awe of the depths of the rock archive. Please enjoy it to the fullest.
