Description

Bismarck Theatre, Chicago, IL, USA 12th June 1985 STEREO SBD
The “BEYOND APPEARANCES” era was once called the hidden realm of sound sources. A new treasure soundboard has appeared that overturns that reputation.
This work includes the “June 12, 1985 Chicago Performance.” It is a stereo soundboard recording. Speaking of the “BEYOND APPEARANCES” era, even masterpiece-class audience recordings were hard to find, but our soundboard masterpieces such as “CUYAHOGA FALLS 1985 (Uxbridge 1346)” and “MILLER MUSIC FESTIVAL 1985 (Uxbridge 2648)” have opened up the hidden territory. This work is a new soundboard masterpiece that joins the collection. First, let’s take a bird’s-eye view of the activities at that time and check their respective positions.

[Sequel soundboard unearthed from a collection of personal effects]
This is SANTANA from 1985/1986. In June 1986, there was also a major event with Jeff Beck, “SOUND MARKET ’86,” but the schedule was basically limited to North America. Meanwhile, this Chicago performance was the 11th performance of “North America # 2.” It was also 11 days after the 8th performance of “CUYAHOGA FALLS 1985.”
This work, which conveys such a show, is also a sequel to the recently acclaimed “MILLER MUSIC FESTIVAL 1985.” That masterpiece was unearthed among the belongings of a certain collector, and this work was also found in the same collection. The sound is also very similar. It seems to be a direct mixer, not a broadcasting system, where the cheers seem like distant ripples. The extremely thick live performance blasts out of the speakers with its bare core, allowing you to fully enjoy the other-dimensional synchronization of the intense live performance and your entire body perfectly matching.
What’s more, the balance is also well-balanced, which is wonderful. Although it is a live mix that was not intended for playback on home audio, the synths and effects are well-decorated, and the sparkling feel of the 1980s is firmly present. The overall balance of the ensemble is good, and it is a rare masterpiece that has a raw, direct connection yet also a sense of production.
[A treasured live album with Buddy Guy as a guest]
This live soundboard depicts a full show that is different from both “CUYAHOGA FALLS 1985” and “MILLER MUSIC FESTIVAL 1985.” Let’s organize the set by comparing it with both of them.
●Beyond Appearance (8 songs)

●Others (14 songs +α)

Santana III: Batuka / No One To Depend On
Others: Primera Invasion / Open Invitation / She’s Not There / Waited All My Life / Body Surfing / Super Boogie (Blues Jam) / Before We Go (★) / Europa (Earth’s Cry, Heaven’s Smile)
*Note: Songs marked with “★” are from the classic soundboard album “CUYAHOGA FALLS 1985”, and songs marked with “*” are from “MILLER MUSIC FESTIVAL 1985”.
…And that’s how it goes. The style is basically similar to “CUYAHOGA FALLS 1985,” with the addition of “Before We Go.” As the tour progressed, the number of songs from “BEYOND APPEARANCES” seemed to decrease and they shifted to more standard songs, but this was still a generous performance of eight songs. Even more impressive was the guest. Perhaps because it was Chicago, the mecca of blues, the great Buddy Guy made an appearance. A spectacular collaboration was realized with “Super Boogie” and the subsequent jam.
The “BEYOND APPEARANCES” era, which quickly became a soundboard masterpiece from a hidden gem of a sound source, is a new masterpiece that will also imbue your brain with his collaboration with Buddy Guy. A hidden treasure of music history unearthed from the belongings of a core collector. Please enjoy it to your heart’s content.
★A stereo soundboard recording of the “June 12, 1985 Chicago performance.” Newly unearthed among the belongings of a certain collector, this recording features a live performance with a rich core, directly connected to the mix table, blasting out of the speakers. The balance is perfectly balanced, and it exudes a sparkling ’80s vibe.
