CODA RECORDS – LP
Description
Pressed by Coda Records in just 500 copies on turquoise vinyl, this unofficial LP reproduces a portion of the final night of the legendary 1972 American tour, also known as the “Stones Touring Party.” This is the show from July 26th at Madison Square Garden in New York, from which the vinyl features eight tracks: three from the recent “Exile On Main St.” (“Rip This Joint,” “Sweet Virginia,” and “All Down The Line”) and five older classics performed by Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Mick Taylor, Bill Wyman, and Charlie Watts with Nicky Hopkins and Ian Stewart on piano, Bobby Keys on saxophone, and Jim Price on trumpet and trombone. Numerous celebrities were in the audience, including Bob Dylan, Woody Allen, Diane Keaton, Andy Warhol, Stevie Wonder, Truman Capote, and Zsa Zsa Gabor, while on stage, Jagger celebrated his twenty-ninth birthday by blowing out the candles on a huge cake amidst balloons and confetti raining down from above.
