Description
Capital Centre, Largo, MD, USA 2nd July 1975Â
Following the highly popular “LARGO 1975 1ST NIGHT” released last week, the second day of the Rolling Stones’ 1975 Largo will be released this week. Like the previous day, this is also a mono audience recording that was released only once, but for many enthusiasts, this release will be the first time they have heard it. Or perhaps there are some enthusiasts who have given up on past releases due to their poor condition.
As mentioned last week, past releases had the major drawback of being released at a slow pitch, but what made it even more difficult to listen to was the distortion of the sound caused by over-mastering. After all, not only the sound of the band, but even songs like “Star Star” where the intro starts with just Keith’s guitar are distorted. Therefore, even among maniacs who own past items, there should be few who have listened to the two days of Largo in 1975.
Furthermore, speaking of the first appearance on the second day, it was actually not an audience recording but a fragment of a PA-out soundboard, and many enthusiasts may recall the VGP label’s 75-76 compilation “WE HOPE YA LIKE DIS ONE”. Although only two songs were leaked, this is still the only SBD of the day.
Therefore, the only thing that can tell us the whole live performance is the audience recording of the same day, but for the second day, the recording is incomplete, up to “Angie”. However, when the sound source of the two days of Largo was released at the time, the subsequent parts were literally edited with the sound source of the previous day. Because of this, the past items also had the problem of recording the previous day’s part as it was.
However, this time too, the thorough restoration by “GRAF ZEPPELIN” has made it much easier to listen to! Not only has it been recorded with “accurate pitch”, but there is absolutely no distortion due to unnecessary input overload. What’s more, it has finally become possible to listen to it as “music”.
Needless to say, the recording was done without any unnecessary editing of the second half of the live performance, but instead, the two soundboard songs were remastered by “GRAF ZEPPELIN” and recorded. Originally, there were parts where the sound was distorted, and the sound quality was quite rough. Of course, there is no way to fix the distorted sound, but the roughness has been improved at once, making it much easier to hear. In fact, I even discovered during this work that the few seconds before “It’s Only Rock ‘n Roll” were actually the inter-song scene of “Happy”.
Like the previous day’s recording, the sound image is mono and a little distant, but the crazy performance on this day is very ’75-like. Mick had some trouble with his throat the day before, and it seemed like he was dragging it on the first two songs, but then he made a miracle comeback. After that, the wild singing style typical of Mick in ’75 exploded.
On the other hand, in “Gimme Shelter”, the sound of the band’s performance went wrong and the performance’s clouds seemed to be clouded. From there, Mick tried to make a comeback with force, which was very ’75-like. His passionate singing on the last song of the recording, “Angie”, was also wonderful, and the performance between MSG and the LA Forum couldn’t be bad.
For the reasons mentioned above, it has often been overlooked until now… In fact, it is no exaggeration to say that the second day of Largo has been avoided by enthusiasts, but with careful restoration by “GRAF ZEPPELIN”, it has finally been finished in a state where it can be listened to carefully. Please collect this unknown masterpiece together with “LARGO 1975 1ST NIGHT”!
REMASTERED BY GRAF ZEPPELIN
★The seldom released ’75 Largo 2days, this is the second day recorded in mono Aud!
As with the first day, there is no distortion due to pitch and phase shift or level over that was already present, and the overall frequency band has been carefully corrected with an emphasis on balance.
As with the first day, there is no distortion due to pitch and phase shift or level over that was already present, and the overall frequency band has been carefully corrected with an emphasis on balance.
It is a pity that only Angie has been recorded this time, but it has also been revealed that the deteriorated audio from the first day was duplicated and recorded after Wild Horses on the already released board.
★As a bonus, two SB tracks from the same day are included!
The previously recorded audio has been remastered. Phase shift has been corrected, hiss and hum noise have been adjusted, and the songs have been rearranged in order to match the performance on the same day.
By the way, this SB sound, the inter-song part before the performance of It’s Only Rock ‘n Roll, about 8 seconds, is actually the inter-song part before Happy, confirmed by this Aud sound source. This confirms that both the main Aud and SB recorded on this board are definitely the performances on the second day of Largo.
★★This is the definitive recording from the second day of the ’75 Largo!
