Description
Madison Square Garden, New York City, NY, USA 27th June 1975Â
★The content and sound quality are excellent!!
June 27th was the finale of the Rolling Stones’ 1975 Madison Square Garden series. On this day, there were two audience recordings with very good sound quality, each released on LP in the 1980s, both in stereo and of the highest quality for an Aud in 1975.
However, with the advent of the CD era, the recording that was released featured periodic interludes of the screams of a duo of women relentlessly requesting “Satisfaction” throughout the live performance, and because of this characteristic, it has come to be called the “Satisfaction Sisters” recording.
Certainly, the stereo spread made it very easy to listen to, but what was even more outstanding was another audience recording heard only on the LP “HOLD ON TIGHT.” This is because the sound image was closer and more powerful, and it initially gave the illusion of being a soundboard. Although it had the major drawback of being pressed at a high pitch, there is also the historical fact that “HOLD ON TIGHT” was released earlier in the first place.
However, because the original recordings of the “Satisfaction Sisters” were already in circulation, the VGP label released them in two parts, “Discover New York” and “Preserve for Future,” or released a version titled “Hold on Tight” and packaged as the “Satisfaction Sisters” recording.
In that respect, the original sound source of “HOLD ON TIGHT” itself was not distributed, and although an LP-dropped item that focused on it was released in the early 1990s, it was not well-established, and for a long time, the final day of MSG was dominated by “Satisfaction Sisters.” The CD released in 2008, “THE ORIGINAL HOLD ON TIGHT,” thoroughly corrected the drawbacks of “HOLD ON TIGHT,” such as the high pitch and scratch noise that occurs with LPs.
Inspired by this release, they released “HOLD ON TIGHT” using a DAC that was also compiled from the LP, but not only was the sound quality significantly different from the original LP, but they also performed a mysterious process that narrowed the stereo field. On the other hand, “THE ORIGINAL HOLD ON TIGHT” also had issues, such as shortening the gaps between songs and fitting them onto two discs.
More than a decade has passed since those releases, and GRAF ZEPPELIN’s 2023 release of “HOLD ON TIGHT” is the definitive version, thoroughly revising the areas and issues that were left unaddressed in the two “HOLD ON TIGHT” LP reissues. In fact, the finish is so impressive that it’s only natural to correct the pitch and fill in the missing parts with “Satisfaction Sisters,” and yet the MSG 24th “Rip This Joint” track used on the original LP is included as a bonus at the end of the third disc.
Those who own the original LP or “The Original Hold On Tight” will understand that, for example, on quieter tracks like “Angie,” there was noticeable tape warping, which was evident in the sound of the Triangle. However, “GRAF ZEPPELIN” thoroughly addressed even these issues. The 2023 edition, boasting such stunning perfection, became a huge bestseller, selling out even after repeated restocks.
Two years later, this classic recording capturing the final day of MSG in 1975 has been re-released in response to overwhelming demand. While the 2023 edition was already a complete release, Graf Zeppelin has made some fine-tuning adjustments to this re-release. Enjoy stunning sound quality on tracks like “Sympathy For The Devil,” featuring Carlos Santana and Keith on bass, and even the rare live performance of “Cherry Oh Baby” before its release. The long-awaited re-release of “HOLD ON TIGHT,” a timeless classic from the Stones’ 1975 tour of the LA Forum, is here!
REMASTERED BY GRAF ZEPPELIN
Although some mid-range band correction has been made, there was no room for change as the previous version was originally mastered with an emphasis on balance.
If you don’t have the previous version, I definitely recommend it!

Details of the previous edition
Based on the analog LP “HOLD ON TIGHT” (CS-MSG-75), the missing parts have been filled in with other sources, resulting in the first complete non-stop recording of all songs, albeit in a pseudo-like manner.
There have been previous releases using a similar method, but these have had poor editing between songs, missing parts, editing errors, and fake processing, so this is the first complete non-stop recording.

*The sound of this album respects the expansive sound of the analog record.
*The previously released DAC record is slightly (about 30%) more mono-oriented, perhaps to bring the performance closer to the center.
*The previously released DAC record is slightly (about 30%) more mono-oriented, perhaps to bring the performance closer to the center.
*Scratch noise has been carefully and patiently removed with pinpoint precision.
No processing has been done in the software to select the entire waveform and process the noise all at once (which would result in an artificial sound).
Also, even in the original sound source, there are many places where hiss is noticeable in the left channel, but processing has been kept to a minimum.

★The pitch was not constant, so it was adjusted accordingly.
Also, some tape vibrations (wow and flutter) were corrected. Angie’s triangle (?) etc.

*The bonus track “Rip This Joint” is the original from the 24th, which was included on the vinyl record.
