NEW REMASTER & NEW ARTWORK
”EUROPEAN TOUR LIVE 1970″ is a carefully reissued masterpiece LP by Rubber Dubber, which showed the greatness of the Rolling Stones’ 1970 European tour in real time, and has been released for a long time after being very well received and sold out. What was great was that they were able to put a 55-year-old LP on one CD, and achieve an amazingly clean transfer with no noticeable scratch noise. This week, the long-awaited reissue of this still-great audience album will be realized.
Last time, Graf Zeppelin thoroughly removed the scratch noise, and the Ruba Daba record, which is difficult to play without scratch noise on the LP itself, was released in such a clean state that it surprised fans all over the world. This time, however, it is not just a reissue; the digital master from the master LP that was transferred for the previous release has been newly mastered.
As with the previous release, the scratch noise has been pinpoint-removed. Trace noise is still audible, but no aggressive noise reduction has been applied, so the result is that the freshness of the sound is as good as the previous release. (The subsequent mono conversion method and EQ processing are different.)
Even the last time, it was in such a clean state, but this time, the new mastering makes it even cleaner and more natural. Of course, without using any unrefined techniques such as suppressing noise with equalization, this time too, the master’s craftsmanship has been realized in an ultra-clear CD. To be honest, even if you play the original LP normally, it is extremely difficult to hear it in such a clear state. In the first place, it is hard to say that the quality of the Rabadaba record itself is high quality. In addition, the surface division of that DJ method was also a difficulty when playing it, so the finish that allows you to listen to a masterpiece in a clean state on a single CD is overwhelming.
”EUROPEAN TOUR LIVE 1970″ captured the sound of “Roll Over Beethoven”, a classic of the European 70s, with a surprisingly close sound image. However, the quality of the early LPs, which tend to have a crackling sound, and the surface area that is difficult to play easily, were really annoying, no matter how great the album was.
Furthermore, as I mentioned at the time of the last release, it is a masterpiece that has been released twice by the VGP label, but even those could not escape the scratch noise, and the sound quality itself has changed from the original LP. Therefore, the finished product of the 2023 version was truly worthy of being called the definitive version, but this time it has been further upgraded!
Even now, the popularity of the Ruba Daba LP itself has not waned at all, and even after 55 years, there is no sign of another recording being unearthed. I’m sure there are many enthusiasts who have been hoping for the reappearance of a wonderful CD version of this timeless masterpiece.
This reissue is not just an upgrade and remaster supervised by GRAF ZEPPELIN.
The previous jacket was a hastily made version with a cloth backing because Rabadaba was unable to procure a double-page jacket, but this time they have recreated the standard double-page version that many enthusiasts are familiar with. In other words, they have reissued the album in a clean jacket without the cloth backing.
The CD version was so amazing that it sold out in an instant after its 2023 release, and there have been calls for a quick re-release of Europe 70, just like Nasty and Philaspe, and the long-awaited re-release is finally happening this week. This is a masterpiece that has been said to mean that if you have this, you no longer have to struggle to play the original Ruba Daba LP. Sorry for the wait!
