Description
Budokan, Tokyo, Japan 24th & 25th April 1979 PRO-SHOT
A newly excavated pro shot of the “JAZZ Tour” visit to Japan, which is still shocking collectors around the world! It will be released as a press DVD set with the conventional TV broadcast pro shots!
This work is engraved with two Nippon Budokan pro shots. The first half is a newly excavated master of the “April 24, 1979 performance”, and the second half is a press DVD that permanently preserves the air check master of the “April 25 performance the following year”. Speaking of 1979, it was the largest Japan tour in their history of visiting Japan, and the Nippon Budokan was also the most. First of all, let’s check the composition of this work in light of that schedule.

・April 21st: Kanazawa Jissen Ethics Memorial Hall

This is the historic Japan tour of the “JAZZ Tour”. The Nippon Budokan had five performances, the final one of which was broadcast on TV at a later date. This work is the decisive board that has the familiar TV broadcast pro shot and the newly excavated pro shot of the previous day all in one go with the best master. Now, let’s introduce each video individually.
[Newly excavated one-camera pro shot (about 61 minutes) that shocked the whole world]
First up is the first appearance pro shot of “April 24th”, the main character of this time. It is the same footage as the recent breaking news release “BUDOKAN 1979 4TH NIGHT: ROADIE CAM (Uxbridge 2550)”. In fact, a piecemeal video of this day (about 20 minutes) was found about three years ago, but this time a 60-minute long master was unearthed. The video was shot by a roadie on stage with one camera, and was also used in part in the PV for “Love Of My Life”. Although it is not a multi-camera, the perspective of the members from behind is full of a sense of secrecy that is impossible for the audience, and you can see the expressions of the members looking back and making eye contact with each other.

It’s a shock that it’s the first appearance after 46 years, but the quality is even more than that. Gene information has not been revealed, but no matter how you look at it, it seems to be the original film direct. Unfortunately, the final version “We Are The Champions” and “God Save The Queen” have severe tape deterioration, but until then it’s excellent. The glossiness without dubbing deterioration is tremendous to every corner of the screen, and there is no fading.
And the transcendent sound of the stereo sound board. It is not strange to record a one-camera staff shot with a microphone installed on the camera, but this work is completely synchronized with the sound recorded directly from the mix desk. Since it is a direct mix, it is not suitable for official works, but the quality itself is an official-class superb sound board.
[Best Master of the Familiar TV Broadcast Pro Shot (about 33 minutes)]
Next up is the multi-camera pro shot of the “April 25th” performance (the screen caption says “5/24”, but this is a mistake at the time of broadcast. The content is definitely “5/25”). Although it was unreleased at the time of the visit to Japan because Freddie Mercury gave an NG, it was broadcast as “The Live QUEEN Live at Budokan PART I & II” by a certain commercial broadcasting station in the early 1980s, several years after the live performance. Since it is NG footage, there is no official archive, let alone a rebroadcast. To this day, it is a phantom broadcast that has only been broadcast once for the first time.

Of course, it is a standard bootleg, but what is included in this work is the best master unearthed in 2020. It is a masterpiece that was directly digitized from the original Betamax tape that was treasured by a core record enthusiast in Japan, and it is a compilation of what was broadcast in two late-night slots of about 15 minutes each. The visual beauty is the best ever, but the recording time is also the longest. It starts with a screen that has never been seen in the conventional master. The suffocating sight of the filled Nippon Budokan spreads, and a huge banner is hung on the first floor seats. Not only is the size of about 6 meters wide noticeable, but the yellow color scheme on a black background seems to say, “You can see this even in the dark.” Moreover, the content is “TEOTORIATTE!”, and they are requesting it with all their might.
And above all, there is a long narration by Mr. Fukudome on the scenery of the Nippon Budokan before the show started. It is a great tone with a sense of history, so let me write it down for a moment.
●Parts that can be heard on the new master
: “April 24th. Now, QUEEN, who stands majestically at the summit of the world rock scene, is about to begin their third visit to Japan. The video of this performance has been kept as a phantom VTR among those involved. Until QUEEN truly becomes the group that represents the 1980s, please just watch their records and tours. This is QUEEN.”

●This is the part that was also heard in the previous version
. “It was a passionate request. And now that QUEEN is celebrating their 10th anniversary since their debut, we can make this public for the first time. The Budokan is filled with hot expectations and excitement!”

★Pro shot of “April 24/25, 1979: Nippon Budokan performance”. The first half is a newly excavated master of the April 24 performance, a one-camera pro shot taken by Roadie. The second half is the best master of the traditional TV broadcast pro shot of the April 25 performance. In particular, the first half (April 24) is about 60 minutes of first appearance footage, and both the video and the stereo sound board audio are superb. This is the definitive edition that permanently preserves the two apex records.
