　A new discovery of a sound source that has never been heard for over 55 years! The highest quality version, polished by meticulous mastering of “GRAF ZEPPELIN”, is now available on press CD.

　This work permanently preserves the “October 18, 1970 San Diego Performance.” It is a superb audience recording. 1970 was the year of the masterpiece “Atom Heart Mother,” which showed the way to progressive rock. Our shop has archived as many masterpieces as possible from the era that evolved dramatically with each performance. [A completely new recording that appeared in 2025]
　This is the fifth recording, and it was a concert that was exactly halfway between the masterpieces “PEPPERLAND 70: 1ST GEN REEL” and “SANTA MONICA OCTOBER 1970: REVISITED.”

　The San Diego concert was a hidden gem, with no known recordings of it ever having been released. However, in the spring of 2025, a new recording was suddenly discovered. It wasn’t traded or released online, but instead saw the light of day as the overseas-made LP “A PSYCHEDELIC BREAKFAST,” limited to 300 copies. This work is a direct transfer from that impactful LP. Moreover, it is a top-of-the-line update, meticulously mastered by GRAF ZEPPELIN.

　And what’s truly shocking is the sound. While it certainly doesn’t beat the tour’s No. 1, the ultra-thick core rumbles without any sense of distance when on, and even the finest details are clearly discernible. And what’s more, it’s a fantastic stereo recording. It’s a blessing that they even recorded it in stereo in the 1970s, and the quality is excellent. The beautiful spread immerses you in a psychedelic world of sound, and the sense of separation is superb. Every single fine picking and subtle ornamentation is beautifully preserved, and even when they overlap, they don’t blend together.

　Moreover, this work is also a top-of-the-line update that dramatically improves on the original sound source. First of all, the composition. The LP “A PSYCHEDELIC BREAKFAST” had a fairly aggressive track order in order to fit on two vinyl discs. This work has been reordered to match the flow of the live performance on the day. Here, let’s restore the expected set on the day.

… and so on. This recording is not full, and four songs in the middle are completely missing. In fact, it has been said like an urban legend that “Alan’s Psychedelic Breakfast” was played on this day (this is also the origin of the LP title), but it was not included either.

　The sound throughout the entire album has also been upgraded. Of course, the needle pops and hums typical of LPs have been thoroughly addressed, but that’s not all. First of all, the sound image is completely different from the first listen. As anyone who has experienced the original LP knows, the tape on this recording was slightly deteriorated, spoiling the bass. This release fully corrects these flaws. The sound output on the day has been reproduced as closely as possible, based on the close-up recording listed in the schedule above. It’s like a completely different album. While the original sound can actually be heard on YouTube, don’t be fooled by its thin sound. You’ll likely wonder, “Is this really the same recording?”

　What’s even more impressive is the pitch. The original LP was unstable and fluctuating randomly (not due to distortion caused by digitization, but because the LP itself was recorded with distortion), but this has been corrected with obsessive precision. Anyone who has experienced the original sound will find this an incredible improvement, resulting in a listening experience that is almost completely natural. GRAF ZEPPELIN mastering is characterized by an extraordinary amount of work and precision, and this upgrade truly shows that.

　It’s been 55 years since the show. Who would have thought we’d encounter a completely new sound source that no one knew existed? This is a press CD that permanently preserves the joy of hearing a live performance for the first time. GRAF ZEPPELIN has elevated the quality of this album, which was somewhat prevalent, to the highest level, making it one of the best in the world. Please enjoy it to your heart’s content.

This is a vinyl transcription of the two-LP set “A Psychedelic Breakfast,” which is said to have been suddenly released around April 2025. It
features the band’s first performance at the University of California, San Diego, on October 18, 1971. Based
on the sound quality and the sound of a dog barking, it appears to have been an outdoor performance.
The sound quality is excellent in stereo audio, and while there is some close-up hiss, it’s not particularly noticeable.
As mentioned above, this is a vinyl transcription, but upon normal listening, it’s hard to tell.
However, recently, there have been occasional vinyl releases of recordings that were originally released.
Unfortunately, not all tracks are included; Fat Old Sun, Cymbaline, and Embryo appear to be missing. The LP’s title, “A Psychedelic Breakfast,” is apparently a reference to the urban legend that
“Alan’s Psychedelic Breakfast” was performed on it, but the veracity of this is unknown.

★The pitch of the original sound source, which was distorted and floppy, has been corrected as much as possible.

I think it will look almost natural.

★Removes hum noise. It’s a subtle effect, but it’s noticeable in quiet sections and between songs.
