Description
Pressed by 1960s Records and recorded in mono, the unofficial LP “At The BBC 1970-72” collects material recovered from various radio programs of the time. The first two tracks on side A come from the program “Top Gear” recorded between 10 and 24 September 1970 and broadcast on 28 November of the same year, while the next two are taken from the live program “In Concert” of 14 October ’71 (broadcast on 16 November). The tracks published on the second side are all recovered from the show “Sound Of The Seventies”: the first three recorded on 8 February 1971 and broadcast on 16 February; the next three recorded on 29 March 1972 and broadcast on the following 6 April. With their aggressive, proto-punk and anarchic attitude, Paul Rudolph (guitar and vocals), the other guitarist Trevor Burton (only present on tracks A3 and A4), the bassist Duncan “Sandy” Sanderson and the drummers John “Twink” Adler (tracks A1, A2, B1, B2 and B3) and Russell Hunter perform original compositions such as “The Snake”, “Uncle Harry’s Last Freak-Out”, “Do It” and “Portobello Shuffle” along with covers of songs by Little Richard, Chuck Berry, the Beatles, Jefferson Airplane and Ventures.
