“Tour Over Europe 1972-1973” compiles the records of Paul McCartney’s first European concert tour as Wings after the breakup of the Beatles. It is now available as the ultimate collector’s edition with carefully selected soundboard recordings and valuable film footage. This 2CD set includes 41 tracks in total, featuring 20 songs from the previously released limited-distribution official live CD “WINGS OVER EUROPE,” plus previously unreleased soundboard recordings. While the official release consisted entirely of 1972 tour recordings except for the opening track “Big Burn Bed,” this new release includes a significant amount of material from the 1973 Newcastle, UK concert. The previously random track order has also been re-edited to conform to the original setlist, with CD1 containing 1972 tracks and CD2 containing 1973 tracks and the 1972 additional recordings, resulting in a more accurate recreation of the concert. Twelve tracks from the 1973 Newcastle, UK concert are taken from previously unreleased master reels, and the officially released “Big Burn Bed” is included in an unedited, alternate mix. Furthermore, it includes numerous previously unreleased tracks, such as “Cottonfields,” Denny Laine’s “Go Now” and “Say You Don’t Mind,” and Henry MacRough’s “Henry’s Blues.” It also includes “Complain to the Queen,” an improvised song performed backstage and broadcast on the radio. The DVD contains live film footage shot during the 1972-73 tour. Although the footage is fragmented, it is a valuable record that gives a glimpse into the atmosphere of the time. It is a must-see video collection that compiles news footage from TV interviews and rehearsals of the time, as well as the full version of the rehearsal for “Peace to Ireland.” This is the ultimate collector’s edition, a definitive version consisting of two CDs of newly edited soundboard audio and a DVD of video.
