Description

The Forum, Inglewood, CA, USA 23rd June 1976 TRULY PERFECT SOUND
★UPGRADE!!!

The final day of Paul & Wings’ LA Forum, which attracted a lot of attention alongside ZEP and Floyd during the series of Millerd Master excavations by JEMS. Not only was it an audience recording with outstanding sound quality, but it was also fortunate that the live performance was realized during the Millerd heyday from 1975 to 1977.

That alone was enough to guarantee a high-quality recording, but in fact, the Millerd recording from that day is particularly close to the sound image of his peak recordings. Joe English’s drum tone is particularly vivid. Paul also recorded multi-track on this day, but the realistic tone and the ability to reproduce the atmosphere of June 23, 1976 are so vivid that it seems like even multi-track recordings cannot compete.

Because of such high sound quality, many items were produced, starting with the nostalgic Dynamite Studio album “WINGS OVER AMERICA II”, but they all suffered from increased hiss noise and pitch deviation due to gene drop, and none of them could be called the definitive version.

The master excavation by JEMS in 2020 (six years ago already!) was groundbreaking in that it cleared away such past items. The masterpiece that contains this master is “LA FORUM 1976 FINAL NIGHT: MIKE MILLARD MASTER TAPES,” but naturally it has been sold out for a long time. Nevertheless, it is only natural that it will be reissued as it is the most important sound source in the history of Paul & Wings audience recordings.

However, this release is not just a re-release, but a re-examination of the sound source, as it is a release from the Merseyside label, a Paul specialist. The missing parts of the previous release have also been thoroughly supplemented. While these are unrelated to the performance, the cuts after “Lady Madonna,” “You Gave Me the Answer,” and “Hi, Hi, Hi” have been supplemented from the stereo source of the classic “WINGS FROM WINGS” LP box set.

But that’s not all. Regarding the cassette cuts that occurred after “Beware My Love” and “Band On The Run,” they were supplemented by making full use of the mono recording audience that had been floating around on the net for a long time. This realizes the longest version that was not possible on the previous edition.

In addition, the left channel drop problem in “Magneto And Titanium Man” has been re-adjusted to alleviate the discomfort, making it easier to hear than the previous version. In addition to the compensation mentioned above, if it is a mirrored recording that captures the final day of Over America, the pinnacle of Wings, in the ultimate state, you want to hear it in its complete form.

After all, it was the final day of Wings’ tour, which was the pinnacle of their career. It was truly fortunate that Millard, at the height of his recording career, was able to record this exhausting performance. While this was unavoidable, the official release had been “edited with multiple performances” and “re-recorded backing vocals” to create a commercial product.

However, Millard captures the performance on the final day of the tour and the enthusiasm of the LA Forum as it is, yet with the highest quality sound you could ever hope for. Even if you’re not a Paul enthusiast, this is a historic Millard recording audience album that you’ll want to have in your home. This Merseyside version literally lets you enjoy the legendary day to the end without any cuts!
