Description
It is a truly electrifying and at times furious concert that Power Chord allows us to listen to again on this unofficial double CD taken from the radio broadcast of the time. This is the show that the Patti Smith Group held on May 4, 1978 at The Place in Eugene, Oregon, handed down to posterity by the station KZEL-FM: Patti (vocals and guitar), Lenny Kaye (guitar, backing vocals and lead vocals on the reggae “No Jestering” by Carl Malcolm), Ivan Kral (guitar and bass), Bruce Brody (keyboards) and Jay Dee Daugherty (drums) launch themselves with impressive impetus into a set that is mainly based on the new album “Easter” between original songs, the modified version of “Gloria” by Van Morrison and covers of “You Really Got Me” by the Kinks, “Time Is On My Side” in the Rolling Stones’ reinterpretation, “Jailhouse Rock” by Elvis Presley and “My Generation” by the Who.
