This killer item features a high-quality stereo soundboard recording of a live performance at the Cellar Door club in Washington, D.C., held on January 16, 1976, approximately two months after the release of their debut album, “Horses.” While only five tracks from this performance were previously available on the label’s previously released “The Great Lost FM Reels 1976 (TOTH1119),” this release features the full-length set, including two separate sessions and interviews. Originally recorded as the broadcast source for WBCN-FM’s iconic “King Biscuit Flower Hour,” the recording offers exceptional clarity, noise-free sound, and flawless mix and balance. Also included are a medley of Velvet Underground covers, including “Pale Blue Eyes” and “Louie Louie,” a guest appearance on “My Generation” with John Cale, and tracks from their second album, “Radio Ethiopia,” released approximately nine months later, including “Ain’t It Strange” and “Pumping (My Heart).” You can also enjoy rare covers such as Dolly Parton’s 1973 hit “Jolene” in superb sound quality!
