★First full version video!!
The historic event “US Festival ’83” brought the new era of music “HEAVY METAL” to the world and made Ozzy an icon. The complete version of that iconic pro shot will be released.
This video was recently released as a gift in advance and was met with great acclaim. However, because it is a gift, it is difficult to obtain during weeks when there are no regular Ozzy releases, and we have received many inquiries asking, “Is it no longer available?” and “When will it be reissued?” Therefore, we have decided to release it as a regular release on the Shades label so that you can always watch this historic performance. The content is the same as the gift version, so please understand this before ordering.
Well, this film was shot, of course, at the May 29, 1983 US Festival (Heavy Metal Day). It’s a multi-camera pro shot. At the time, Jake E. Lee had just been welcomed as the new guitarist. This is a good opportunity, so let’s take a look back at the situation at the time while organizing Jake’s early soundboard/pro shot collection.

《All members except Jake left》
This is the journey from Jake’s joining the band to just before the production of “Crime and Punishment.” Jake had been with the band since early 1983, but the “US Festival ’83” was the first time he showed off his heroic figure on TV. This festival wasn’t just Jake’s debut; it was also extremely important in music history. While “heavy metal” was already a common favorite among music fans, it was the TV broadcast of the “US Festival” that is said to have brought the “new music called heavy metal” to even the uninterested public. In particular, the visuals of JUDAS PRIEST and the mysterious Ozzy Osbourne, clad in all leather and studs, were shocking and defined the “look of metal.” It was truly a historic event.
On the other hand, this TV broadcast was far too short. While some bands, including the final act Van Halen, are available in full, the Ozzy Osbourne edition is a challenge. Only three songs were broadcast live, and even with the recent discoveries, only about seven remain. The only way to see the complete show was through the soundboard album “US FESTIVAL ’83: THE COMPLETE SOUNDBOARD (Zodiac 350).” However, recently, footage of the remaining parts has been unearthed. Finally, we can watch the entire show in multi-camera pro shots! Which songs are available? Let’s organize them in order of release.
●The original TV broadcast version (3 songs)
: Mr. Crowley, Crazy Train, Paranoid
●Unreleased songs (9 songs + α)
: Added songs from the previous release: Diary Of A Madman (SE), Over the Mountain, Drum Solo, I Don’t Know, Flying High Again, Iron Man
・Newly discovered songs: Suicide Solution, Revelation (Mother Earth), Steal Away (The Night), Fairies Wear Boots, Children Of The Grave
…And so it is. Of course, this work is a complete version that includes all the songs mentioned above. However, the complete master has not yet been released, and several masters have been combined to recreate the complete show. Depending on the song, the video quality may vary, and the master owner’s watermark or time counter may be included. Therefore, it cannot be declared “completely official!” in general, but there is no doubt that the best possible master is used for all parts. Most songs are literally “completely official.”
For Jake, no, for Ozzy…no, for the music genre “HEAVY METAL,” the “US Festival ’83” was the most important event. The whole of America was blown away by this stage, and in just a few years, heavy metal grew into a major boom. It continues to be a huge scene to this day. Ozzy Osbourne’s final concert will be held on July 5th of this year, and it was thanks to the “US Festival” that he became the “Godfather of Metal.” This is the complete version of this historic full show. Please enjoy it to the fullest.
★Multi-camera pro-shot footage from the May 29, 1983 US Festival (Heavy Metal Day). The traditional TV broadcast version only featured three songs, but in recent years the remaining tracks have been unearthed. These tracks have been combined to create a complete, expanded version of the full show. While the video quality varies depending on the song, and there may be watermarks or time counters from the master owner, this is a video masterpiece that allows you to fully enjoy the legendary stage with unprecedented visual beauty.
