Salt Palace, Salt Lake City, Utah, USA 18th March 1984 PRO-SHOT (BEST QUALITY)
The highest quality professional shot ever, a symbol of the Jake E. Lee era, will be reissued.
This iconic work is engraved with the “March 18, 1984 Salt Lake City performance.” That’s right, it’s the masterpiece official video, “BARK AT THE MOON.” It’s a multi-camera pro shot of Jake’s explosive guitar, which made his shocking debut with the classic album “Howl at the Moon.” Despite being the most popular in Jake’s time, this is a masterpiece among masterpieces that has never been released on DVD. This work is a reprint of the Japanese laser disc, the pinnacle of such a masterpiece. Using mint-quality copies treasured by a domestic core collector, it was entrusted to an overseas analog video manufacturer and digitized using high-end equipment. This is the pinnacle of quality, with every conceivable consideration given to the source, process, and environment…everything was transferred to DVD.
In fact, the visual beauty of this work is at the highest peak ever. It’s on a completely different level compared to the VHS-generated footage, as well as those thought to have been generated from laser discs. The power of the image quality explodes from the very beginning! The intro features a caption telling the story, and the beauty of the text is undeniable! It’s comparable to modern digital recordings. At the show, Ozzy appears from the smoke, and the smoke, every strand of hair, is incredibly high-quality. The stage set, with its outstanding atmosphere reminiscent of an old mansion, is also clear. It’s footage I’ve seen countless times since then, but I never imagined it would be so intensely shot. And who knew such a wealth of information was packed into the laser?
The beautifully rendered show is a vacuum-packed version of the shock of a new generation guitar hero appearing! Speaking of Jake’s time, there were a lot of member changes during the first half of the “Howl at the Moon” era. This is a good opportunity to review it here.

[Everyone except Jake leaves]
This is the whole story from Jake’s joining to the “BARK AT THE MOON TOUR.” The band was stable in the latter half of the “Crime and Punishment” era, but the first half saw a rapid turnover. This work has the same lineup as “Howl at the Moon,” but Aldrich returned. Meanwhile, this Salt Lake City performance was the 12th concert of “North America #3.”
Although Ozzy’s band has had a variety of musicians come and go, they remain one of the strongest in terms of technique and flair. Jake, in particular, unleashes a torrent of sharp, razor-sharp picking…how metallic! Bob’s bass, singing and dancing with intricate lines, complements this, while Tommy’s powerful drumming tightens it up. Ozzy still calls himself the “Godfather of Heavy Metal,” but this tour was the only time he was truly metallic.
Tony Iommi’s heavy riffs, Randy Rhoads’s intoxicating delicate phrasing, and Zakk Wylde’s brutal rock… all of his past partners are incredible, but Jake’s guitar cuts as sharply as a razor and shines with a dazzling brilliance. He runs around with graceful steps and plays with unrelenting precision. Even the closing solo of “Bark At The Moon,” which other guitarists play in a simplified position, is played with his signature wide-step fingering.
While later guitarists, out of respect for Randy, strive to faithfully recreate his work, Jake, a contemporary of his, is relentless. Even the iconic solo on “Mr. Crowley” is executed with an edge that only Jake can deliver. And of “Iron Man” and “Paranoid,” Jake himself said, “I was playing them thinking to myself, ‘What a boring song.'” It’s impressive how he dismantles rock classics in his own way, yet still sounds so cool it sends chills down your spine. This guy is a genius, after all. While there are several professional shots capturing Jake in his youthful prime, this release, which brings the official footage to its highest level, is undoubtedly the best.
As mentioned above, these five members had also performed at the US Festival in 1983, making the “heavy metal” sound known to audiences across the United States. They then dominated the world with their classic album “Howl at the Moon” and tours. In other words, what we see on this album isn’t just one incredible live performance. It’s the very spectacle that established “heavy metal” in America and elevated Ozzy Osbourne to the status of “godfather.” It was this live performance that ignited a storm of hard rock and heavy metal across the United States, leading to Motley Crue (LA metal) and Metallica (thrash metal) dominating the world. Without this tour, without this performance, the history of hard rock and heavy metal might have been different… Even such “what ifs” don’t seem like an exaggeration, as the live performance on this album is so incredible. While the question “what is heavy metal” sounds like something out of JUDAS PRIEST, Ozzy Osbourne’s performance on this album also offers a historic answer. Yes, this work is a “heavy metal textbook” alongside PRIEST’s “LIVE VENGEANCE ’82.”
This film captures the pinnacle of a young, genius guitarist, a record of a super band of unrivaled masters, and a performance that changed the fate of heavy metal. If the authorities, who favor only Randy and Zack, continue to ignore this masterpiece, it must be revived underground. This is a masterpiece that not only showcases the charisma and genius of one guitarist, but also the brilliance of an entire musical genre. This is the world’s highest quality edition. Please enjoy this cultural heritage of heavy metal at your leisure.
