Description
Live at Shoreline Amphitheatre, Mountain View, CA. USA 1st & 2nd October 1994 PRO-SHOT
This is a two-day pro-shot video of the 1994 live performance, which is highly regarded as one of the top three acoustic performances that Neil Young has performed at the annual Bridge School Benefit! “WOLFGANG’S VAULT” was originally strong in the video and sound sources of the Bridge Benefit, and the soundboard sound source for the two days of 1994 was released first. Speaking of the sound source of the bridge of this year, “BRIDGE 1994 Day 2” has already been released by our shop, but the appearance of the soundboard sound source of “Day 1” at last has been a hot topic among some enthusiasts. However, it is surprising that the pro-shot video of the two days has appeared this time. In other words, the sound of the video was released first. If that is the case, the pro-shot and soundboard recording of “Day 1”, which is extremely popular among enthusiasts in the 1994 Bridge, has finally been unearthed!
Unfortunately, the opening performance by Neil on both days was not recorded this time, but the main live performance with Crazy Horse and the finale on both days are completely recorded. The image quality is also excellent, and how can I express the joy of being able to see this legendary performance in a professional shot?
As for “Day 1,” it is a day with a strong impression of “Change Your Mind,” which is famous among enthusiasts as the best performance of the two days. However, Neil and Crazy Horse’s performance as a whole was quite cautious. In fact, most of the songs from the latest album “SLEEPS WHTH ANGELS” in 1994 were performed live for the first time on this day, and the tension on their faces is clearly conveyed from the video. This is the strength of professional shot footage. The audience seems to be watching the way each song is spun with bated breath. In 1994, the tragedy of Nirvana’s Kurt Cobain’s suicide occurred, which not only inspired the previous album, but also quoted a passage from “Hey Hey, My My” in his suicide note. So not only the songs on the album, but also Neil himself singing “Hey Hey, My My” with the meaning of repose for Kurt is full of sincerity. It is likely that the performance in such a tense atmosphere elevated “Change Your Mind” on this day to a legendary performance. Should we call it acoustic feedback? It’s an unplugged performance, but the performance is intense, and when you watch it with video, it’s so intense that you’re at a loss for words. After all, “Change Your” here was a special performance.
Perhaps because of the tense “Day 1”, the atmosphere of the “Day 2” live performance was completely different. As for the songs included in “SLEEPS WHTH~”, I get the impression that they are playing in a much more relaxed manner, and above all, you can see that from Neil and Crazy Horse’s expressions. It’s interesting that every song even feels peaceful. Thanks to that atmosphere, it’s understandable that “Change Your~” on this day was not as good as the previous day. Rather, the overall peaceful and cohesive performance on this day was a big attraction. And at the finale of both days, Pearl Jam, who were still a young grunge band at the time, appeared and performed “Piece Of Crap” in a lively manner, and the fun atmosphere of “Day 2” was particularly attractive in this regard. In this way, a super rare professional shot video that reveals the whole picture of the legendary stage where the atmosphere of the performance was so different on two days has been decided to be released. Please enjoy the great performances that Neil and Crazy Horse left behind in the mid-90s!
